Description

As Internal Communications Manager, you will work across the Meliore Foundation to develop consistent, high quality internal communications plans that equip colleagues with the information they need to stay strategically aligned in a growing, global, remote-first foundation that works across nearly 40 countries.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff and as a member of the CEO Office Team, this role will collaborate closely with senior executives as well as programme and operational leaders to develop the systems, processes, and culture of effective internal communications; to design and execute specific high-value communications plans; and to oversee key elements of the foundation’s knowledge management infrastructure. The role will furthermore contribute to major change management and organisational initiatives that help strengthen and steward the foundation’s and wider network’s collective identity and culture.

This is a people management role, with line management responsibility for an Internal Communications Associate. 


How you'll contribute

  • Establish an internal communications strategy in conjunction with the Chief of Staff and other key internal stakeholders to enable strategic alignment across our diverse and international network
  • Design and continuously develop internal communications systems, processes, and ways of working that help strengthen culture, community and organisational norms
  • Develop knowledge management systems that enable colleagues to quickly and easily find and understand the information they need in an increasingly complex and diverse global network
  • Organise and maintain an extensive knowledge hub of network resources, templates, guidance and other relevant information
  • Provide training and inductions to colleagues in appropriate knowledge management including filing, storage and access
  • Work as the central point of contact for all internal updates and network-wide communication, and ensure all initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to internal stakeholders through consistency, understanding, clarity and effectiveness
  • Uphold the values, culture and community of the network and apply them to network structures and systems
  • Plan, edit, design and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums such as the leadership announcements, newsletters and regular emails
  • Utilise industry best practices, techniques and standards, measure the effectiveness of internal communications, and use data and feedback to continuously improve our approach
  • Provide line management, coaching and professional development to junior colleagues, fostering a collaborative, high-performing and inclusive team culture


Our ideal candidate has

  • Extensive experience (+5 years) leading an internal communication function, with expertise in internal communications strategy, knowledge management, staff engagement, and organisational communications within an international network or organisation.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with experience tailoring messages to a variety of audiences
  • Experience managing complex internal communications projects and advising staff and senior leaders on internal communications strategies
  • Experience of overseeing change management communications in a fast- growing organisation or network
  • Proficiency with communications and digital tools such as Slab, MailChimp, Adobe Suite, Google Drive, SharePoint, Asana, Trello, Slack, etc.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with a keen eye for detail
  • The disposition to work generously with colleagues in an international, multicultural community of peers, and the ability work across international norms and values
  • The versatile and adaptable skills necessary to flourish in a fast-paced and wide-ranging work environment where remote work is the norm;
  • Excellent judgement and discretion
  • Creative and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, combining strategic perspective with adaptability in dynamic and ambiguous environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills, with emotional intelligence to build trust, navigate complex relationships, and work diplomatically across diverse stakeholders and time zones.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, producing concise, accurate, and professional materials for diverse audiences.
  • A genuine interest in (and ideally some exposure to) issues at the intersection of technology, society, and democracy, and a commitment to Meliore’s mission and values, including justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Brand management experience would be a plus
  • Fluency in English is required; additional languages are an asset.
