Description

This position is with the Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC), a global network of communications professionals in the field of climate, energy and nature. GSCC is a programme hosted by the Meliore Foundation. 

Super pollutants are powerful climate greenhouse gases that remain in the atmosphere for a much shorter period of time than carbon dioxide. Yet their damage potential can be many times greater, and they have harmful effects for people, ecosystems and agricultural productivity. However, because of their short lifespan, cutting super pollutant emissions quickly can have a huge impact on lessening the most dangerous impacts of climate change.

This role will work across GSCC’s global network of communicators to drive smart, targeted, strategic communications around super pollutants and the solutions that can reduce them - growing the support for effective solutions, and strengthening efforts to accelerate their reduction.


How you'll contribute

Strategy and Capacity Development
  • Work closely with GSCC colleagues and a global network of partners working on tackling super pollutants to develop a strategic communications campaign strategy for the field.
  • Build out a network of experts in the field, media contacts and influencers who can develop content on super pollutants for a range of audiences across multiple platforms.
  • Embed strategic communications expertise on super pollutants, providing a consistent surround-sound for elite decision makers on the importance of super pollutant mitigation

Delivery
  • Drive a global narrative shift on super pollutants through high-impact, tactical strategic influence across traditional and new media
  • Develop, build and deploy a strategic communications strategy aimed at cutting global super pollutants in key markets.
  • To include comms strategy development, landscape analysis, messaging, audience analysis, message testing, digital campaign development
  • Develop data-backed messaging to lead to aligned, stronger partner interventions
  • Scope national-level super pollutants campaigns and identify where additional resources are required

Intelligence gathering / network development
  • Work closely, sensitively and carefully with key diplomatic / CSO partners in the super pollutants space
  • Report intelligence / developments back to Team Energy and super pollutants partners
  • Identify and engage key industry / technical voices to advance super pollutant mitigation narratives

Collaboration
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Team Energy colleagues and GSCC colleagues working on super pollutants across the network
  • Be present on all relevant calls, engaged on meetings (within reason given timezones)
  • Build contacts, networks, partner engagement in key target countries
  • Advise partners on strategic communications interventions
  • Actively embody and uphold the values of the GSCC


Our ideal candidate has

  • Extensive experience in strategic climate communications, with experience working on super pollutants
  • Expert level understanding of super pollutant issues across agriculture, energy, food, and more
  • Proven ability to develop and land communications strategies 
  • Excellent understanding of global media landscape, including new media
  • Experience working with global teams across multiple time zones
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, our working language; additional languages are an asset.
  • The disposition to work generously with colleagues in a high-trust global community of peers.
  • The versatile and adaptable skills necessary to flourish in a fast-paced and wide-ranging work environment and work across time zones using tools such as Zoom, Slack and email (Google Workspace).

Location: flexibly remote, ideally within 6 hours of CET
Some international travel will be required. We may be able to provide co-working spaces in some locations. Only candidates with the right to work in their location will be considered.
