Job Description

Position Summary
Manages the day-to-day operations supporting the corporate Payroll function. Knowledgeable about payroll regulations and manages, organizes, evaluates and controls the personnel and processes related to payroll functions. Ensures all employees are properly compensated on time and in compliance with applicable state and Federal laws, company policies and procedures and union contracts. Oversees time reporting and payroll input processes enabling the timely completion of payroll.

Tasks and Responsibilities
• Manages the payroll function to provide accurate and timely processing of the payroll and ensuring the integrity of the HCM system.
• Manages the day-to-day operations related to payroll and time reporting activities.
• Manages payroll staff.
• Ensures bi-weekly employee payroll payments on time and accurate through appropriate channels.
• Manages employees at outsourced payroll provider to ensure accuracy of the preparation, distribution and reporting process and post payroll, garnishment and taxes.
• Oversees process to ensure payroll deductions are accurately withheld and remitted to third parties as required.
• Supports the resolution of all payment issues with appropriate parties (benefits, human resources, consultants, technical resources etc.)
• Establishes requirements for the internal control and procedures for protecting the assets of the company and determining new procedures and controls for addressing the company’s growth.
• Interacts on a regular basis with the senior management and external customers for integrating solutions that address the company’s goals.
• Implements payroll strategy and vision for aligning with the shared services and other corporate initiatives.
• Partners with budgeting and accounting functional areas as well as other HR teams to ensure accurate financial and payroll results.
• Oversees payroll and accounting audits with internal and external parties, as needed.
• Design payroll systems and manage the input, calculation and collection of all necessary financial data.
• Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegate assignments to subordinates.
• Participates in ad hoc payroll-related analysis as required by senior management and internal/external parties.
• Monitors calendar and fiscal year-end processes to ensure deliverables are timely and accurate.
• Maintains and updates policies and procedures for the payroll and related functions.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
• High School Diploma/GED required
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Experience can be substituted for education. preferred
• 5+ Years of progressively responsible payroll experience required
• 7+ Years of relevant experience required

• Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and understanding of payroll regulations (FLSA), wage/tax law, and record keeping/administration.
• Excellent interaction and customer service skills, including timely responsiveness and positive, solutions-focused attitude—with ability to build credibility and trust across the organization.
• Experience with Workday preferred
• Demonstrated strong knowledge of payroll systems and processes.
• Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to details.
• Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors, subordinates and peers.
• Demonstrated ability to present ideas logically and concisely to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and to prioritize tasks successfully.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a group environment.
• Demonstrated aptitude for analytics and problem solving.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment with competing tasks and to meet multiple internal and external deadlines. Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), to share, retrieve, research and present business information.; Advanced proficiency with Excel.
