Job Description

This contract HR Operations Leaves Specialist role focuses on administering leave of absence programs within a Shared Services environment, with a strong emphasis on parental leave. You will serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers on leave-related inquiries, providing clear guidance on eligibility, policy interpretation, and processes while delivering compassionate support. The position involves managing cases through a ticketing system, maintaining thorough documentation, and ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and HIPAA. You will collaborate closely with HR partners and Centers of Excellence to ensure consistent policy application, effective communication, and proper pay continuity during employee leaves.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave of absence inquiries, with a particular focus on parental leave programs.
  • Administer leave of absence programs from end to end, including intake, eligibility review, approvals, and ongoing case management.
  • Provide clear guidance on leave eligibility, policy interpretation, and process steps in alignment with federal and state leave laws and internal policies.
  • Manage employee leave cases through a ticketing or case management system, ensuring timely updates, consistent follow-up, and accurate resolution.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation for all leave cases to support compliance, auditing, and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and HIPAA, in all leave-related activities.
  • Coordinate communications with employees, managers, HR partners, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent and timely information throughout the leave process.
  • Support proper pay continuity during leave by coordinating with relevant teams and ensuring correct application of leave policies and benefits.
  • Collaborate with HR partners and Centers of Excellence to ensure consistent application of leave policies and practices across the organization.
  • Resolve complex leave inquiries and escalate issues appropriately when additional expertise or approvals are required.
  • Handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of leave processes by identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance the employee experience.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience administering leave of absence programs, with a strong focus on parental leave.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state leave laws, including FMLA, ADA, and HIPAA.
  • Experience working in a case management or HR service center environment.
  • Ability to manage employee cases end-to-end with consistent follow-up and timely resolution.
  • Strong written communication skills for clear and professional email and documentation.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for effective interactions with employees, managers, and stakeholders.
  • Experience in HR Operations, HR Centers of Excellence, or business-facing HR roles.
  • Familiarity with leave laws and benefits administration.
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • 2+ years of customer-facing experience in a fast-paced environment (preferred).
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field (preferred).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working within a Shared Services HR model.
  • Exposure to HRIS systems such as Workday, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting multi-state leave policies and programs.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for handling complex leave cases.
  • Process improvement mindset with an interest in enhancing HR and leave processes.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing multiple cases and priorities.
Work Environment

This position is 100% remote and follows normal business hours, Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will work within a Shared Services HR model that emphasizes collaboration, knowledge sharing, and consistent service delivery. The role provides exposure to complex, multi-state HR operations and leave programs, offering meaningful work that supports employees during critical life events. The environment promotes an employee-focused culture, with opportunities for career growth within HR operations and benefits administration. Work is performed using digital tools, case management systems, and HRIS platforms, enabling efficient remote collaboration and communication.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.72 - $28.72/hr.
