Role: Lead Computational Social Scientist

About interos.ai:
interos.ai is the standard for supply chain risk intelligence. Our Resilience platform, powered by an 11B buyer-supplier knowledge graph and 250M+ businesses scored across six risk factors, Cyber, Catastrophic, ESG, Restrictions, Geopolitical, and Finance, is run by Fortune 1000 market leaders and trusted by major Federal departments. As the only AI-powered SaaS platform that comprehensively assesses risk across these domains, interos.ai helps customers understand their exposure through our proprietary iScore® and assists both real-time and anticipatory opportunities to mitigate supply chain risk.

Our second-generation platform, iQ, is the industry's first fully productized predictive analytics platform for supply chain risk. iQ orchestrates ERP and Resilience platform insights to deliver AI-driven suggestions for supply chain risk management, helping organizations quantify financial exposure, stay ahead of geopolitical volatility and shifting tariffs, and communicate risk in the language CFOs use every day.

We are not afraid to challenge conventions, explore new ideas, and iterate quickly. Our work is meaningful, the problems are complex, and the pace requires focus, curiosity, and adaptability.

We are looking for people who are humble in how they collaborate, hungry to succeed, and smart in how they work. People who thrive here are energized by broad exposure, comfortable navigating ambiguity, open to feedback, proactive in taking ownership, and motivated by making a real impact.

About the role:

Are you fascinated by global financial systems and uncovering hidden patterns within networks? Do you enjoy transforming theoretical models into practical insights and communicating them for public and private sector environments? And want to dive deep into supply chain networks and the major transformations underway?

If so, interos.ai is seeking a Principal Computational Social Scientist to help advance the next evolution of our financial and economic modeling capabilities.

In this role, you will drive development of financial risk applications across both micro- and macro-use cases. You will apply quantitative social-science methods to analyze global supply chains, financial markets, network dynamics, and macro-level socio-economic trends. You will build and refine theory-informed and data-driven computational models while staying current on emerging research, global events, and analytical techniques. A strong researcher, writer, and data storyteller, you will translate deep analytical output into clear insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.

As part of interos.ai’s Applied AI team, you will work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment to introduce and operationalize complex financial risk and macro-economic models at scale. You will lead model-driven projects, collaborate closely with engineering and product teams, and guide models from concept through full productization. You will work in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple projects, and excelling in communicating complex features to broad audiences. Your work will directly enhance the analytical foundations of the interos.ai platform and support our mission to illuminate global supply chain relationships through advanced computational social science.

What You Will Do:
  • Research, develop, and implement computational social-science models for integration into the interos.ai platform.
  • Apply quantitative methods to understand network structures, global supply chain dynamics, and economic and financial risk.
  • Manage multiple projects and execute rigorous models under tight timelines, while communicating progress across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and validate academic and industry models and assess applicability to product needs.
  • Translate complex theoretical frameworks into practical, scalable models used by public and private sector customers.
  • Produce white papers, blogs, and external presentations
  • Stay current on global events, emerging datasets, and methodological advances relevant to global financial markets, regulations, and macro-economic trends.
  • Collaborate across Applied AI, Engineering, and Product to take models from initial concept through to full productization.
  • Embrace the start-up speed to delivery expectations and communicate and execute within multi-disciplinary scrum teams.

What You Bring:
  • PhD in political science, economics, or other social or behavioral science, actuarial science, or related quantitative field with 5+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 7+ years; or 10+ years of hands-on experience modeling complex socio-technical or large-scale systems.
  • Experience thriving in fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environments, especially in start-up or other face-paced product-centric environments.
  • Deep curiosity and a persistent drive to explore new data, better methods, and novel approaches to complex analytical problems.
  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative modeling across social, organizational, or physical systems.
  • Proven open-source research skills and experience supporting product development
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with Python, Jira, Git, LLM coding tools, and related analytical or engineering collaboration tools.
  • Embody a hungry, humble, and smart mindset: always learning, collaborating, and executing.

Bonus Points For:
  • Experience operationalizing academic or technical models within private-sector or applied environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including internal teams, external partners, technical experts, and business stakeholders.
  • Background in computational social science, network science, system dynamics, global supply chain analysis, complexity science, or similar domains.
