As a Junior Actuarial Analyst, you will contribute to actuarial and financial analyses across Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and ACO programs. You will work closely with experienced actuaries and gain practical exposure to reserving, trend analysis, forecasting, pricing, and rate adequacy studies while supporting important business decisions. The role includes analyzing complex healthcare data, creating reports and models using tools such as Excel, SQL, SAS, and Power BI, conducting ad hoc actuarial analyses, and assisting with financial reporting activities. In addition, you will have opportunities to communicate insights to actuarial leadership and business partners, strengthening your technical, analytical, and presentation skills while building a strong foundation for an actuarial career.

This is a remote, part-time, 20 hours a week, position with a flexible work schedule. Candidates must live in the state of AZ to be considered.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will assist in healthcare actuarial analyses under the supervision of actuarial staff. The position will become knowledgeable in, Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), Commercial ACOs, Employer Plans, Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plans (MA-PD), Medicaid, Medical Economics, and/or other healthcare data analytics.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Assist in healthcare actuarial analyses under the supervision of actuarial staff.

2. Assist in projections, pricing, reserving, and other analyses using tools developed in Excel, SAS, Teradata, Tableau, and other software, with the oversight and feedback from actuarial staff.

3. Develop/present results of the performed analyses to actuarial staff.

4. Participate in the development of actuarial models and reports for the continued growth of the actuarial team.

5. Provide support to actuarial staff in performing IBNR estimates, financial reporting, and rate adequacy studies.

6. Research and compile information about healthcare regulations to support actuarial staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration or related field.

Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

License/Certification: Successful completion of one or more actuarial exams.

Knowledge of software for data analysis; specifically, spreadsheets (e.g. MS Excel, VBA), data extraction and manipulation (e.g. SAS, Teradata, R) and data visualization (e.g. Tableau).

Estimated Pay Range:

$24.32 - $36.48 / hour Banner Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted compensation range is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay Banner Health in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. This range is based on possible base salaries and does not include the value of our total rewards package. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location, along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure pay equity is achieved and maintained.
