FIRST NATIONS LAND MANAGEMENT RESOURCE CENTRE
The Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management is a significant expression of Indigenous ingenuity and modern efforts to shed the colonial legacy of the Indian Act. Our team at the First Nation Lands Management Resource Centre (FNLMRC) is cutting edge, dedicated, and experienced in assisting First Nations with developing workable solutions to the everyday challenges of community led lands and resources governance. We are currently searching for motivated and qualified candidate to fill an IT Support Services Officer position.

ABOUT US
As part of the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management (Framework Agreement), the Lands Advisory Board (LAB) and the First Nations Land Management Resource Centre (FNLMRC) provide political and technical support to developmental and operational First Nations. The developmental process under the Framework Agreement consists of a series of activities including the drafting of community land codes, implementing communication strategies and community voting procedures, as well as finalizing Individual Agreements with Canada. Once a First Nation ratifies its Land Code and becomes operational, the LAB and FNLMRC provide various support services such as training, assisting/advising with drafting land laws, rules, procedures, agreements, instruments, as well as implementing land governance systems and facilitating agreements and other arrangements with municipal, provincial, federal or First Nation governments.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The incumbent performs a variety of information technology support duties to ensure smooth delivery of technology services. Provides IT support services by analyzing requirements, safeguarding data, resolving problems, proposing hardware and software solutions, and supporting RC staff with resolution of IT related issues. The incumbent will also be responsible for administration and internal support of the RC’s PCs, printers, servers, and related equipment. Support services may be regionally specific.
Key Responsibilities
Duties will vary, although the following gives a general outline of the tasks involved:
• Respond to requests for technical assistance and support from RC staff related to issues/queries surrounding computer systems, software, hardware and other IT equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues.
• Oversee equipment orders, delivery and set up for new employees using standard hardware and software.
• Administer user accounts.
• Ensure protection and backups of critical email and other data.
• Maintain inventory of all equipment, software and software licenses.
• Maintenance of the RC website.
• Conduct orientation/training as needed related to staff on the use of new programs/software.
• Provide IT support services at RC events as needed.
• Any other related workload/duties in keeping with the LAB, RC and FNs’ responsibilities in implementing the FA.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for the position identified above, or for future consideration, please demonstrate how you meet the following essential criteria:
• Completion of a university degree or post-secondary education in IT, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in an IT support services role.
The following essential requirements will be assessed at a later date, either through an interview, written assessment and reference checks:
• Knowledge of First Nations culture.
• Knowledge of current trends in IT products and IT management.
• Strong computer literacy skills with an emphasis on software knowledge, installations and use including Microsoft applications, Adobe, virtual meeting platforms, SharePoint, Internet, and internet protocols.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with all levels of the organization and with external partners
• High level of initiative and strong problems solving skills Attention to detail
• Excellent research and analytical skills.
• Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
• Ability to research solutions or information regarding technical issues.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Candidates must possess a valid Driver’s License and have access to a reliable personal vehicle.

PREFERENCE
- Due to the amount of work with First Nation communities, preference may be given to candidates with First Nations ancestry.
