About the team

The Instructional Designer at Kinaxis is pivotal in shaping and delivering high-quality, engaging learning experiences that will make our customers successful on our platform.  In collaboration with Curriculum Developers, SMEs, and other business units, this individual will bring training content to life across the roles that exist in our ecosystem. Our Instructional Designer ensures that learning experiences for our global customers are visually engaging, intuitive, and consistent with our brand standards.

Reporting to the Manager – Customer Education, our Instructional Designer will play a key role in creating engaging and interactive content for our online learning platform. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, strong instructional design skills, and experience in developing digital learning content in a variety of formats.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and deliver high-quality learning experiences from approved outlines and content drafts, translating written content into visually engaging, interactive digital learning.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, and other members of the training and enablement team, to create engaging and effective training courses using instructional design methodologies and emerging technologies.
  • Need assessment and performance objective definition sit with Curriculum Development. Leaving it in attracts analysts rather than designers and misrepresents the actual day-to-day.
  • Partner with Curriculum Developers and SMEs to pressure-test how content will be experienced, flagging where structure or sequencing weakens the learner experience
  • Design and develop innovative and interactive learning experiences using instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and best practices. Create engaging learning materials such as eLearning modules, videos, simulations, and job aids.
  • Apply and extend the Kinaxis University brand system, content style guide, and accessibility standards, meeting WCAG Level A as a minimum on every deliverable.
  • Liaise with other teams such as Product Management and Professional Services to determine course direction and assess course appropriateness.
  • Contribute to our reusable component library of templates, interaction patterns, and design standards that scale across the curriculum

Primary Skills and Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, instructional technology, or a design-related field (graphic design, visual communication, etc.). or equivalent demonstrated portfolio experience.
  • Portfolio strongly preferred. Candidates who submit a portfolio of digital learning work they personally designed and built will receive priority consideration. A link or PDF is fine.

What we are looking for

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or eLearning development, preferably in the SaaS or technology industry.
  • Strong instructional design skills, with experience designing and developing online learning materials using authoring tools such as Articulate Rise, Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, Synthesia and other similar AI software.
  • Strong multimedia and visual composition skills: layout, color, hierarchy, and accessibility.
  • Familiar with user experience principles of design and design thinking.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS) and Hands on Lab (HOL) systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.
  • Creative mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement in learning theory and design.
  • Nice to have motion graphics or video animation skills are a strong asset. Experience with tools such as After Effects, Vyond, or similar is welcome but not required.
