Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Instructional Art Manager, UNLV Online Education (REMOTE) [R0153603]

 

ROLE of the POSITION

The Instructional Art Manager works to develop a campus culture that embraces digital teaching and learning by supporting UNLV Online (UO) staff as they engage faculty in online and hybrid course development and revision. The Multimedia Production Manager uses a growth mindset (Dweck, 2007) to help the multimedia team function as members of a supportive UO team. 

 

The Instructional Art Manager manages a team of instructional artists, multimedia designers, computer programmers, videographers, editors, and students as they work to create and integrate learning objects in online courses. The incumbent aligns graphics and video production, as well as provides project management, managerial expertise, and delegation to team members in an ever-changing project landscape. The incumbent has strong pedagogical knowledge, art expertise, online education experience and collaborative supervisory skills that promote best practices in technology enhanced learning. The Manager supports the multimedia team and faculty through the course design and development stages; evaluates UO courses for consistency with multimedia learning principles; identifies and organizes resources for skill and knowledge development for the UO multimedia team; and brings research-based perspectives to the art and science of technology enhanced learning. The Multimedia Production Manager collaborates with the instructional design staff and supports UO by working on issues, programs or projects at the request of the Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

This position requires a Master’s degree Master’s Degree in Instructional Media Design, Digital Arts, Educational Technology, or related field or comparable profession, from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and 3 years of experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

●      Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite

●      3 years conceptualizing and transforming textual materials to visual element

●      Demonstrated experience managing budgets and multiple creative professionals in a wide variety of projects

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

●      Principles of team management and supervision, including hiring, training, and mentoring.

●      Project management methods, including scopes of work, workflows, milestones, and timelines.

●      Media production processes, including pre-production, production, and post-production.

●      Instructional design concepts and how multimedia supports online courses and programs.

●      Budgeting and resource allocation for staff and equipment in media projects.

●      Video production technologies, including lighting, audio, set design, and camera work.

●      Post-production processes, including editing, animation, infographics, and branding.

●      Institutional branding and style standards for multimedia.

●      Hire, train, manage, and mentor a cross-functional creative/technical team.

●      Plan and track project timelines, tasks, and milestones across production stages.

●      Facilitate meetings with faculty, program directors, and subject matter experts.

●      Translate course content into appropriate multimedia formats.

●      Lead video shoots and ensure professional production values.

●      Oversee editing and ensure quality control of final media products.

●      Communicate effectively with leadership, faculty, and stakeholders.

●      Maintain organized video archives and media libraries.

●      Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and foster professional growth.

●      Ability to manage multiple complex projects under deadlines.

●      Ability to strategically plan workflows for efficiency and quality.

●      Ability to collaborate across departments and balance academic and technical needs.

●      Ability to adapt quickly to evolving technologies and trends in media and education.

●      Ability to uphold high-quality standards under constraints.

●      Curate and integrate OERs and publisher content into courses.

●      Develop institutional resources, such as guides, style sheets, and toolkits, for stakeholders.

●      Research and test new media delivery platforms and solutions.

●      Design and optimize multimedia studio spaces.

●      Apply storytelling and marketing strategies to instructional content.

●      Ability to innovate with emerging technologies and delivery formats.

●      Ability to evaluate media effectiveness and improve processes.

●      Ability to design spaces that support long-term multimedia growth.

●      Ability to blend creativity and pedagogy to enhance student engagement.

●      Ability to showcase multimedia outputs to both academic and non-academic audiences.
