This role supports the day-to-day execution of human resources programs and practices across North America, partnering with leaders and employees to deliver consistent, practical HR support. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Human Resources, the position is responsible for helping maintain compliant and effective processes across employee relations, onboarding, performance support, policy administration, training coordination, and HR operations in a fast-paced life sciences environment. Possible travel to support locations such as Detroit, Massachusetts, Kansas, Tennessee, and California may be required given business needs and circumstances.

The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail oriented, and comfortable working in a hands-on environment while working with managers and employees across routine HR activities and priorities.

Location Requirement: Candidates must reside within the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT). While we consider applicants from most states, we are unable to hire in AK, HI, NM, ND, SD, RI, or VT.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support managers with day-to-day HR guidance, policy interpretation, and consistent application of HR practices.
Facilitate core employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, offboarding, job changes, and employee documentation.
Handle employee relations matters, conduct prompt and objective investigations, and support resolution of workplace concerns.
Assist with recruiting activities such as posting roles, preparing offer documentation, and supporting new hire onboarding.
Support performance management processes, including review cycle administration, coaching documentation, corrective action tracking, and manager follow-up.
Coordinate HR training and compliance activities, including policy communication, required training assignments, and recordkeeping.
Assist with audits, reporting, and routine HR metrics to support sound HR practices and operational decision-making.
Apply sound judgment in day-to-day HR situations, including interpreting policy, documenting employment matters, escalating risk appropriately, and supporting consistent, compliant execution across multiple locations.
Prepare routine HR dashboards and reports, including use of tools such as Power BI and agentic AI to analyze workforce trends, improve reporting efficiency, and respond to manager and employee questions on policies, metrics, and incentive plan administration with clarity and accuracy.
Maintain current knowledge of applicable employment laws and HR best practices, escalating issues as needed.
Manage Form I-9 processes, including completion, maintenance, documentation, and periodic I-9 audits to support compliance with U.S. employment eligibility requirements.
Support U.S. employee handbook policy governance, including policy updates, communications, acknowledgments, and consistent interpretation across locations.
Lead or facilitate new hire orientation to ensure employees receive a consistent introduction to company policies, expectations, benefits, systems, and culture.
Provide front-line employee relations support, including intake, documentation, manager coaching, issue resolution, and appropriate escalation of workplace concerns.
Administer front-line leave of absence processes, coordinating with employees, managers, payroll, benefits, and third-party administrators to support timely documentation, communication, and return-to-work planning.
Maintain OSHA log compliance by tracking reportable workplace incidents, coordinating required documentation, and supporting accurate and timely recordkeeping.
Support HR initiatives that enhance employee experience, consistency, and operational effectiveness across the business.
Investigate employee concerns and respond to EEOC matters
Collaborate with global HR teams on projects and initiatives
Performs other duties as required.
Travel within US is possible up to 20%.

QUALIFICATIONS

3–5 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist or similar hands-on HR role, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment.
Practical knowledge of core human resources disciplines, including employee relations, performance management, onboarding, compliance, and policy administration.
Experience in a life sciences, healthcare, laboratory, manufacturing, or similarly regulated environment is preferred.
Knowledge of U.S. employment law and HR best practices, including leave administration, pay and benefits, and employee documentation requirements.
Advanced multi-state HR compliance expertise, including demonstrated application of California and Massachusetts employment law in high-growth or highly regulated environments, with the ability to independently advise managers, handle complex employee relations matters, conduct workplace investigations, and support policy implementation with minimal legal oversight, including in the areas of wage and hour, leave, accommodation, and termination matters.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience translating workforce data and operational metrics into actionable insights, business recommendations, and process improvements
Demonstrated ability to strategically leverage AI, including agentic AI, automation, and tools such as Power BI to develop executive-level dashboards, translate headcount and workforce metrics into actionable business insights, and support workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and enterprise decision-making.
Ability to effectively partner with sales leadership by interpreting, explaining, and supporting the administration of sales incentive plans, with an understanding of how compensation structures align to business strategy, performance, and growth.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience using HRIS systems and maintaining accurate employee data.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

A full-time Monday through Friday workweek with general business hours and flexibility to work additional hours as needed and approved by management.
