Growth Marketing Manager

Application Deadline: 14 August 2026

Department: Marketing

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: South Africa

Compensation: R48,000 - R52,000 / month

Description

EC Tutoring has built the thing most businesses never manage: families who stay for years, and who tell their friends.

62% of revenue comes from clients renewing, adding a service, or referring a relative. Referrals convert better than any paid channel in the business. It works because the product genuinely works.

The next chapter is reach,  helping more families discover EC Tutoring for the first time.

There's a lot to build on. Tutoring students across Washington DC and Northern Virginia since 1998 and now working with families nationwide, EC Tutoring already has the infrastructure:

Google Ads converts reliably, a strong external agency runs SEO and paid digital, and an AI-savvy part-time marketer is on the team.

Referrals, the strongest-converting source of all,  have never been formalised, which makes them the single biggest open opportunity here.

This is the role that brings it together. Deciding where to invest, designing the tests, and being hands-on enough to run them yourself.

You'd own new-client growth end to end, from a seat on the leadership team, with 28 years of proof behind you.

The Role

What you’ll own:

New Business Growth
  • Own the intake/new-client growth number, EC Tutoring's core gap
  • Evaluate current channels (Google Ads, family referrals, organic/AI search, email/newsletter, webinars) and make data-backed calls on where to invest more, less, or nothing
  • Treat declining channels like webinars iteratively: determine whether they're still viable or need repositioning, rather than assuming they're dead or that they'll keep working as-is
  • Design and run new tests rather than repeating what hasn't worked (e.g. the Meta-ads push to grow webinar signups, which converted no clients)
  • Build out and strengthen the referral program: family referrals convert best and are currently underdeveloped
  • Track lifetime value by acquisition source/persona, and revisit assumptions on a regular cadence (roughly every 6–12 weeks)
Leadership & Strategy
  • Sit on EC Tutoring's leadership team. Bring ideas, not just execute them
  • Bring a point of view on where to focus: which service lines to lead with, which channels deserve budget, what to stop doing
  • Report on what's working and what isn't, in plain terms leadership can act on
Marketing Operations & Automation
  • Reduce the manual load of current newsletter, blog, and webinar production using AI and automation
  • Use HubSpot data to understand where clients are actually coming from and target messaging accordingly
  • Explore how EC Tutoring shows up in AI-driven search and build a repeatable way to influence it, rather than relying on it happening by chance
Coordination
  • Work alongside the existing part-time digital marketer (technical/AI-focused) and the external SEO/paid-digital agency. This role directs and coordinates, it doesn't replace either

The Person

Who we’re looking for:
  • Mid-level marketing experience: not entry-level, and not an extremely senior/CMO-level specialist who directs but doesn't execute
  • Someone who can overlap with est hours: 2:00 pm – 8:00pm SAST
  • Comfortable reading performance data and forming a clear point of view on where to invest, cut, or test
  • Motivated to use AI and automation to cut manual marketing work, not just talk about it
  • Strong written communicator. This person proposes ideas to a leadership team, not just executes a brief
  • Some direct-to-consumer or family-facing marketing experience is a plus, though not essential: transferable backgrounds (including B2B) will be considered
  • CRM experience (HubSpot a plus)
  • Comfortable both proposing a strategy and doing the work to test it, not handing ideas off and waiting
