Purpose of Position
The key purpose of this position is to develop and establish a robust category management process and plan for assigned categories of electronic components with the goal of reducing revenue risk for Vontier Operating Companies associated with these categories of parts and achieving OMX cost saving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Category Strategy & Planning
•    Full ownership of category strategy plan development, formal planning cycle and roadmap building for assigned electronic component categories; prioritize supply assurance and structured cost saving initiatives as core strategic pillars.
•    Create integrated strategic and financial category roadmaps aligned with corporate procurement targets, balance global unified category standards with unique regional market and manufacturer organizational characteristics.
•    Collaborate closely with regional category teams from all Vontier OpCos to align strategy priorities, roll out global category action plans locally, support regional execution gaps and drive consistent implementation across all operating sites.
•    Develop and deploy enterprise-wide Vontier Preferred Supplier framework, align regional stakeholders to consolidate scattered OpCo spend and unlock global volume leverage.
2. Market Intelligence Research & Stakeholder Communication
•    Conduct ongoing market research to monitor trends, pricing, capacity, and technology shifts in the electronic components industry.
•    Communicate effectively with multiple internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, finance, OpCo procurement teams) to align category strategies with business needs.
•    Influence engineering teams during the design phase to select components that optimize cost, availability, and obsolescence risk, while managing the OCRAP tool for obsolescence risk assessment on existing boards.
•    Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to OpCo category team members to build organizational talent and ensure consistent execution.
3. Supply Assurance & Production Continuity Guarantee
•    Prioritize assurance of supply as the highest focus, developing contingency plans and capacity reservation agreements for key MPNs (Manufacturer Part Numbers).
•    Manage sole/single sourced partners to drive performance excellence and mitigate supply disruption risks.
•    Proactively identify and address potential bottlenecks, lead-time extensions, and allocation risks through early engagement with suppliers and internal teams.
4. Cost Benchmarking & Cost Saving Delivery
•    Own the component cost benchmarking tool; compare actual EMS component costs against market standard pricing to continuously identify quantifiable cost saving opportunities.
•    Leverage consolidated global spend to negotiate unified pricing, volume rebate with manufacturers and distributors for all Vontier OpCos.
•    Lead cross-functional cost-down projects, track monthly saving realization, compile formal saving tracking reports and present progress, gaps and improvement plans to corporate leadership.
•    Apply expert negotiation, process optimization and cross-site collaboration to deliver sustainable year-over-year direct material cost reduction.
5. Manufacturer & Distributor Relationship Management
•    Leverage an established network and strong relationships with electronics component manufacturers and distributors at both global and regional levels.
•    Negotiate and execute price/inventory agreements with manufacturers and distributors to cover all Vontier OpCo spend, ensuring favorable terms.
•    Establish regular quarterly business reviews with major manufacturers/distributors (based on Pareto analysis covering 80% of OpCo spend).
•    Influence supplier decisions by aligning Vontier's enterprise-wide volume and strategic priorities.
6. Tier 2 & Tier 3 Supplier Performance Management
•    Manage performance of Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers for focused categories, ensuring they meet quality, delivery, and cost targets.
•    Drive the development and implementation of Vontier's "Preferred Supplier" program across the enterprise.
•    Actively participate in corporate-wide sourcing events, including RFQs, negotiations, and supplier selection processes.
•    Ensure that at least 80% of Tier 2/3 spend is covered under formal contracts with clear performance metrics.
Measures of Performance
•    Action Plan achievements for Category Strategy plans.
•    Deliver regular market analysis reports and align with stakeholders
•    Capacity reservation agreements on key MPN’s and eliminate major supply disruptions.
•    Compliance in design cycle to procurement processes for all sites
•    Year over Year improvement in Direct Total cost for assigned categories
•    Establish network with main Manufacturer/Distributor following pareto analysis by manufacturer of the 80% of Vontier Opcos spend
•    Establish regular quarterly review with main Manufacturer/Distributor
 

Background and Skill
•    5 - 7 years’ experience in strategic sourcing with emphasis on electronic components (Processor, Memory, Analog..), EMS suppliers and/or component distributors butors.
•    Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and communicate effectively to multiple stakeholders.
•    Experience in structuring contracts and managing business relationships
•    Experience in managing & driving performance excellence with Sole and/or Single Sourced partners
•    Ability to manage the sourcing of electronics related to regulatory and customer requirements
•    Experience & demonstrated abilities to enable cost improvements via expert negotiation skills, collaboration, process improvements & project management 
•    Negotiation skills and techniques leveraging collaboration to drive win-win solutions to optimize cost and performance.
•    Ability to influence others - must be able to inform, influence, and collaborate with others to action on key initiatives of the Specific Categories Assigned at all levels in the organization (up and down), internally and externally
•    Developing organizational talent - must be able to develop commodity team members
•    Negotiation skills and techniques leveraging collaboration to drive win-win solutions to optimize cost and performance
•    Plus would be if candidates have already network created with main electronics component manufacturer and/or if he/she has experience already working in one of major distributor organization or EMS supply chain
•    Degree in Electrical Engineering/Supply Chain preferred. Basic technical knowledge of electronic components is required
 

The base compensation range for this position is $128,750 to $164,700 per annum. Your actual base salary will be determined based upon numerous factors which may include relevant experience, skills, location (labor market data), credentials (education, certifications), and internal equity.
