Description
The Field Service Engineer performs complex and technically demanding support of Elekta Treatment Delivery Systems. The position requires a professional representation between the customer and the company in all aspects of the customer relations. The role will need to ensure that Elekta maintain there contractual commitments in ensuring Clinical uptime commitments are met. You will be responsible for managing all maintenance activities on the site for Elekta supplied equipment. You will be expected to work under your own initiative to complete the tasks required.
The Installation Engineer is responsible for the installation and upgrading of Elekta’s Treatment Delivery Solutions at customer sites. All work is assigned to the engineer by the Head of Service Operations according to the project schedule. Once at the customers site the engineer is expected to manage and coordinate all activities associated with the assigned project including liaison with the Local Engineers, Distributor Management, Project Management, hospital physicists and technicians, site contractors and relevant departments within Elekta.
Technically, the work involves a very diverse skill set including fault finding complex electronic systems down to board/component level, HT and RF power generation, vacuum systems, water systems, pressurized gas systems, mechanical assembly and adjustment of the radiation beam to achieve the required output specification. As the engineers are expected to manage their own environment at a remote location, there is a need to be able to demonstrate competence in all of these key areas.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES -
• To install, without supervision, all systems within the product portfolio to the required specification and quality within the project time-scales.
• To have excellent knowledge and proven skills in electronics, PCs and servers, networking, high vacuum, high/low voltage & current, diagnostic equipment and a general knowledge of all engineering disciplines
• To be able to fault find at board level and below
• To operate always in accordance with the Elekta quality system and complete the administration requirements of the role in a timely and accurate manner
• Have the ability to manage own workload
• To be highly motivated, dynamic, have good leadership skills and be a good problem solver
• To have proven site management skills
• To have a strong customer focus and have excellent communication service skills
• To be prepared to work as required at times and locations dictated by the needs of Elekta and the customer
• To provide feedback to the Head of Service Operations regarding any issues, solutions or opportunities which may need to be communicated to other parts of the organisation
• To maintain an up to date knowledge of all Elekta products in the portfolio
• Be prepared to provide training to other staff when necessary
• Conduct Servicing in local area of responsibility of Elekta Treatment Delivery Systems
• Liaison and customer support representative for the local region for Elekta Treatment Delivery Systems
• Provide phone and email support, technical advice & “Help Desk” support as appropriate to customers
• Read, analyse, interpret and follow signal flow on blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Able to complete all Technician Responsibilities.
• Independently perform routine troubleshooting and repairs on the designated modality while working within the escalation procedure.
• Carry out the Field Change Orders, Safety Checks / Modifications, as instructed by the Elekta Supply Centre for the installed systems
• Perform routine calibrations and preventative maintenance on their designated modality and secondary modality.
• Conduct Planned Maintenance for Customers in local Region
• Stay current on all new Elekta products.
• Parts inventory management
• Maintain all company-leased equipment, including company computer, parts, and tools.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Relevant Knowledge, skills and competencies
• Employees must be competent in verbal and written English language as a minimum
• Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in a related engineering discipline or relevant work experience
• Experience of installing or servicing complicated capital equipment
• Biomedical experience and/or technical knowledge of radiotherapy equipment in the field or a hospital setting would be desirable
• Completed all relevant Elekta Linac Training Courses
• Excellent Communication and mentoring skills to deal with challenges presented by culture and language
• Effective time and resource management.
• Must be quality orientated in all tasks
• Proven ability to manage own environment and complete the tasks deployed to them.
• Engineering skills: electrical, electronic fault finding, plumbing, vacuum, radiation, physics
• Competent with relevant IT technology including Windows OS, MS Office Applications, networking and control applications.
• Demonstrates drive and commitment to Elekta and the tasks in hand.
• Ability to travel up to 75% of the year
