Who are we looking for:

Woodard & Curran has an opportunity for an Environmental Compliance Project Manager to join our growing firm and provide high-quality consulting services to our industrial, commercial, and railway clients. The selected candidate will be a key member of our national Environmental Compliance Practice and work directly with a diverse and talented group of engineers and scientists at the firm. The ideal candidate is a Project Manager with strong technical experience delivering high-quality compliance and permitting services, specifically to railroad industry clients located across the firm’s geography and core markets. In addition, the ideal candidate will be sought out by clients for innovative solutions, support and conduct business development efforts, and keep abreast of critical client and industry regulations and issues. The successful candidate will be an energetic, motivated, growth-oriented professional who can work independently and lead multi-disciplined project teams.

 

Offering Flexible Remote Schedule

 

This virtual work schedule will support clients in the following locations: Nationwide but primarily in the Northeast and Midwest.

 

Travel up to 25%:  Primarily local travel is required.

What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?
  • Responsibilities include maintaining and establishing relationships with clients to procure and manage the scope, schedule, budget, and delivery of compliance and permitting projects.
  • Work directly with clients and a team to lead the delivery of projects related to providing technical advice, planning, design, permitting, and (occasionally) construction phase services for these projects.
  • Frequent interaction with clients, potential clients, owners and regulators. Business development efforts will include preparation of proposals, project interviews and marketing activities.
  • Manage and supervise the projects developed utilizing Woodard & Curran technical and administrative staff.
  • Lead and complete technical tasks as required to support the projects.
  • Specific experience and focus areas include developing permit applications, regulatory reviews, compliance plan preparation, Tier II reporting; and related documentation and reporting in accordance with applicable environmental laws and regulations.
  • Work also involves the selection, coordination, and management of subcontractors, cost estimating, and management of the scope, schedule, and budget for various project tasks.
  • Report writing and interaction with project staff, clients and regulatory agencies will also play an important role in the candidate’s success


What You Will Need To Succeed:
  • Seven 7 to 10 plus years of professional experience with an environmental/engineering consulting firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or environmental engineering from an accredited program.
  • Experience working with railroad clients.
  • Strong appreciation of and commitment to safe work practices is mandatory.
  • Client focused with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Demonstrated experience with scoping, budgeting and implementation of complex permitting and compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with railroad regulatory programs across northeastern and midwestern states.
  • Ability to work independently and on large multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to mentor and develop a project team.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour and Railway Worker training a plus

$120,000 - $125,000 a year

The anticipated compensation range for this position is based on several factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, education, skills, and primary work location. Final compensation will be determined based on these factors and adjusted, where applicable, by a geographic differential. Geographic differentials are percentage-based adjustments that reflect variations in labor market costs across locations. As a result, the compensation range for this position may vary depending on where the successful candidate is located and performs their work. The examples below illustrate how compensation for this role may differ across geographic markets.
