Encore Senior Operations Advisor (Part-Time) – Cigna Retiree Encore Program

Position Summary

As part of the Cigna Retiree Encore Program, the Encore Senior Operations Advisor provides experienced operational support to the Benefit Operations organization during periods of elevated client activity and business demand. This role is designed for a retired employee returning in a flexible, part-time capacity to leverage prior organizational knowledge and expertise in support of critical operational needs.

The senior advisor applies deep knowledge of pharmacy benefit administration, client maintenance processes, and operational workflows to support service delivery, manage client-related activities, and assist with year-end operational readiness efforts. Through the Cigna Retiree Encore Program, the role enables the organization to capitalize on proven experience and institutional knowledge while helping maintain service quality and operational continuity during peak workload periods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day benefit operations activities, including client maintenance requests, benefit plan updates, and operational issue resolution.
  • Assist with increased volumes of client changes and escalated requests associated with annual enrollment and year-end implementation cycles.
  • Conduct case and XML reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Partner with internal operations teams to monitor and advance client maintenance activities, identifying risks and driving appropriate follow-up.
  • Support client readiness and operational planning activities during peak implementation and maintenance periods.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on operational processes, benefit configuration, and client support practices based on previous organizational experience.
  • Assist with year-end client case and XML status reviews, helping ensure transparency, alignment, and timely resolution of open items.
  • Support quality reviews and validation activities to help ensure operational accuracy and adherence to established procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to address workload demands and maintain service-level commitments during peak business cycles.
  • Share institutional knowledge and best practices gained through prior service with the organization.
  • Support special projects and operational initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Participant in or eligible for the Cigna Retiree Encore Program.
  • Previous experience in pharmacy benefit management, health care operations, benefit administration, or a related operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of benefit configuration, maintenance processes, and client support operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with operational systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to quickly re-engage and contribute with minimal onboarding.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous Benefit Operations experience within Evernorth, Express Scripts, or Cigna.
  • Familiarity with case management workflows, XML processes, and benefit plan administration.
  • Prior experience supporting client maintenance, implementation, or operational support activities.
  • Demonstrated success managing high-volume workloads during annual enrollment or year-end benefit cycles.
