Your Purpose:
Reporting to the Vice President, Technology and Impact, the Director, Technology leads NTC’s daily technology operations and translates organizational strategy into secure, reliable, and efficient system operations. As the operational lead for technology innovation, the Director convenes NTC’s cross-functional AI Taskforce, leads discovery for standalone AI tools, and integrates high-leverage digital solutions that reduce administrative friction, protect data privacy, and empower staff to deliver high-quality educator support.
What Will You Do:
Some responsibilities and duties may vary, but the role of the Director, Technology includes:
Technology Strategy and Operational Innovation
Lead the operational testing and integration of emerging technologies, ensuring technical solutions are effective for staff and partners while acting as a catalyst for organizational innovation and increased staff efficiency.
Serve as the lead coordinator for the internal AI Taskforce, aligning cross-functional teams and technology vendors on project requirements, technical workflows, and rollout schedules.
Partner with Program and other internal teams to evaluate and integrate emerging technologies into NTC’s core offerings (e.g., teacher induction, instructional coaching, leadership development, curriculum implementation, assessment), establishing sustainable pathways for scaling both core programmatic enhancements and innovative new work.
Monitor EdTech trends and digital tools, providing tactical recommendations to leadership on high-leverage opportunities to modernize internal systems.
Enterprise Systems, Cybersecurity, and Infrastructure
Define and oversee NTC’s enterprise SaaS architecture, integration standards, and software vendor performance to ensure a secure, reliable digital workplace.
Manage and enforce NTC’s organizational cybersecurity protocols, access control governance, and technical risk mitigation procedures.
Maintain IT policies, hardware lifecycle standards, and business continuity protocols, partnering with NTC’s MSP to oversee device procurement, deployment, and data backup procedures.
User Enablement and Vendor Management
Oversee high-level relationships, contract renewals, and service-level agreements (SLAs) with external technology vendors, software providers, and consultants.
Translate complex technical concepts, system updates, and security protocols into clear, accessible guidance for non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
Organizational Leadership and People Management
As a leader in the organization, the Director, Technology will help the organization create an unrivaled employee experience where staff thrive through learning, growth, development, and collaborative engagement within the organization. To achieve this, the Director, Technology will:
Strategically align the team’s direction and make data-driven decisions by translating NTC’s overarching strategic plan and organizational goals into clear, actionable goals for their team, including building the team’s AI literacy and capacity to ensure KPI’s are met.
Adapt with courage and creatively navigate shifting dynamics while maintaining focus and flexibility in times of ambiguity.
Champion a strong organizational culture by embodying NTC’s Core Values, building trusting relationships, fostering a sense of belonging, and promoting collaboration and learning with respect to diverse perspectives across the organization. In addition, they hold others accountable for operating in the same manner.
Serve as a vital link between leadership and their team, ensuring information flows clearly in both directions.
Cultivate growth through ongoing coaching and feedback, conduct formal performance reviews, and have regular discussions to help team members learn, grow, and develop their skills to achieve professional goals.
What Will You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing enterprise systems, modernizing workflows, and enabling staff to work securely and efficiently
3+ years of people management experience (direct supervisory and management responsibilities, including hiring, developing, and evaluating performance)
Proven track record of navigating emerging tech trends
Deep understanding of AI frameworks and the ethical implications of AI in education
Experience in or deep familiarity with educator development (induction, coaching, or school leadership)
Strong understanding of security frameworks (NIST) and data privacy laws
Exceptional ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse, non-technical audiences and external partners
What We Offer:
This position offers a competitive starting salary range of $121,600-$136,800, along with a comprehensive benefits package. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary closer to the start of the range. At NTC, when determining a salary offer for a role, we consider the specific requirements of the role, the relevant experience, and the required skills, while maintaining equity within our compensation bands. For this and other reasons, we have adopted a no-negotiation policy.

Must Be Able To:
TRAVEL: Minimum travel (5%-15%) - To include: department retreats, the org-wide annual fall retreat, internal learning convenings, and at least one conference.
