THE OPPORTUNITY
RMC is seeking an accomplished, relationship-driven Director of National Sales to grow and strengthen our business across the Southeast and Midwest. This is a highly visible, client-facing role for a sales leader who understands that exceptional results are built through trust, thoughtful account management, local expertise, and extraordinary service.
The Director of National Sales will own a portfolio of strategic third-party and corporate-direct relationships while actively developing new business that supports RMC destinations across the country. The right leader will bring an established network, a hunter's curiosity, an account manager's discipline, and a genuine passion for connecting clients with the people and places that make each RMC destination special.
This is more than a territory sales role. It is an opportunity to represent one of the country's premier destination management companies, build long-term partnerships, and help clients imagine what is possible when national reach is paired with truly local relationships and service.
WHAT YOU'LL LEAD
Strategic Account Growth
· Own, grow, and retain a portfolio of assigned third-party and corporate-direct accounts across the Southeast and Midwest.
· Develop thoughtful account plans that identify near-term opportunities, multi-year potential, key stakeholders, and measurable growth strategies.
· Deepen relationships within existing accounts while proactively expanding RMC's reach into new departments, business units, and client organizations.
· Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them evaluate destinations, shape program concepts, and connect their goals with the right RMC market and local team.
New Business Development
· Build a healthy pipeline of new opportunities through networking, referrals, prospecting, industry involvement, hotel partnerships, and strategic outreach.
· Identify and pursue opportunities that support RMC's destination and regional growth priorities.
· Lead client presentations, discovery conversations, destination discussions, site inspections, and contract negotiations with confidence and professionalism.
· Develop multi-year opportunities and partnerships that create durable, profitable revenue for RMC.
Relationships & Market Presence
· Cultivate meaningful relationships with clients, hotel partners, industry organizations, and other key influencers throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
· Represent RMC at industry events, trade shows, client functions, networking events, and strategic partner engagements.
· Partner closely with hotel Global Sales Organizations and local hotel teams to identify opportunities and strengthen RMC's market presence.
· Be a visible ambassador for the RMC brand, consistently demonstrating warmth, responsiveness, integrity, and an exceptional level of service.
Sales Discipline & Collaboration
· Create and execute an annual territory and account strategy aligned with RMC's revenue goals and budget expectations.
· Maintain accurate CRM activity, account intelligence, pipeline data, forecasting, and next steps.
· Collaborate closely with destination sales, operations, creative, and leadership teams to ensure seamless handoffs and an exceptional client experience from first conversation through program execution.
· Share market intelligence, client feedback, competitive insights, and emerging opportunities to help RMC continuously improve and grow.
WHO YOU ARE
You are a relationship builder at heart and a commercially minded sales professional by discipline. You enjoy opening doors, but you are equally energized by turning a first conversation into a trusted, long-term partnership. You know how to listen, ask the right questions, create value, and follow through.
You are comfortable representing RMC with senior clients and industry partners, navigating complex sales cycles, and collaborating with local destination teams. You understand that the strongest national salespeople do not simply sell destinations - they connect people, possibilities, and relationships.
Most importantly, you believe that high performance and exceptional service go hand in hand, and you take personal ownership of both.
WHAT YOU BRING
· 5+ years of successful sales experience within destination management, hotels, hospitality, meetings and events, travel, or a closely related relationship-led industry.
· Demonstrated success managing and growing strategic accounts, with a strong network of third-party and/or corporate-direct relationships.
· Experience developing new business and converting relationships into measurable revenue growth.
· Strong presentation, negotiation, account planning, and relationship-management skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent RMC confidently with senior clients and partners.
· Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with disciplined follow-through and attention to detail.
· Comfort using CRM and business productivity platforms; Salesforce and Microsoft Office experience preferred.
· Bachelor's degree in business, hospitality, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
· Ability and willingness to travel frequently for client meetings, industry events, site inspections, and RMC engagements.
· Residence within the Southeast or Midwest, with convenient access to a major airport, strongly preferred.
