Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

  • Advise Global and US business colleagues on various initiatives in a way that advances the company’s strategy while addressing legal and compliance risks and protecting the company’s integrity and reputation.
  • Provides day-to-day strategic and tactical compliance guidance to leadership and cross-functional teams to drive fact and risk-based decision making
  • Identifies and develops compliance tools and resources to help business functions to apply compliance principles and enable ethical decision making.
  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with business function management and participates in their leadership meetings to ensure potential compliance risks are proactively identified, discussed, and mitigated.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships and collaborate frequently with Legal, Human Resources, Internal Audit, and colleagues in other functional areas both in and outside of the US.
  • Partners with compliance colleagues to identify observations and trends to incorporate into monitoring/audit protocols, policy and SOP updates, Compliance training, and relevant Compliance communications.  
  • Liaises between Compliance Operations and business functions to provide and support coaching, training, and/or discussion with business function managers and/or leaders. 
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of current and emerging laws, regulations, codes, and recent enforcement actions across the US and inform and educate business colleagues with tailored communications.
  • Support continuous improvement of the Global Compliance Program including risk assessments and remediation
  •  Assesses compliance training needs for the business function and develops and delivers ad-hoc training as needed.
  • Reviews and provides input as a subject matter expert to the business during the review and update of policies and SOPs.
  • Develops and maintains updated knowledge and understanding of Jazz’s products, industry regulations and guidelines, and Company policies and standard operating procedures.
  • · As required, may be asked to temporarily support other compliance-related activities (e.g. policy updates, monitoring, compliance investigation(s), etc.) 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of healthcare compliance experience with a pharmaceutical/biotechnology company or within the life sciences industry required. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Anti-Kickback Statute and False Claims Act, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rules and regulations regarding the promotion of pharmaceuticals, HIPAA, Open Payments, and relevant industry guidance, specifically PhRMA Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals required.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence without authority, work collaboratively and pragmatically cross-functionally
  • Ability to foster a speak-up and strong internal compliance culture by working as a strategic, trusted business partner
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated experience taking ownership of issues and providing timely, practical, and actionable guidance
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, on a timely basis with strong attention to detail, and ability to organize and analyze complex information and data
  • Self-starter with demonstrated leadership skills and ability to meet goals; able to exercise sound judgment on complex compliance matters
  • Demonstrated superior ability to proactively identify areas for improvement in controls, systems, and processes and implement effective solutions.
  • Position is remote based (US) with travel requirements
  • Flexibility to work in a fast paced and dynamic work environment with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Embraces continuous learning and stays informed on advances in technology, AI and other industry trends

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree (masters or JD) preferred

Description of Physical Demands

  • Position requires ad-hoc travel within the United States (estimated at ~20% per year) for participation at regular business function meetings and activities.

Description of Work Environment

  • Work indoors will be in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations and temperature changes
  • Frequent computer use

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the full and complete base pay range is:

$189,600.00 - $284,400.00

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz’s Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
