The Digital Drilling Analyst acts as a primary point of contact for DrillOps Advisory and Automation, providing remote troubleshooting and workflow support to rig crews. They are responsible for system configuration, performance monitoring, and ensuring high utilization of digital drilling tools through effective coaching and reporting.
The Digital Drilling Analyst is the primary Level 1 point of contact for DrillOps Advisory and Automation. Working remotely, they coach and support rig site crews through Hypercare and the transition to the SaaS Managed Services model, providing first-line troubleshooting, workflow support, and issue escalation and follow-up. They act as a trusted advisor to the customer, helping them maximize value from the products in line with each project’s SOW.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engagement and Support
Maximize utilization of DrillOps Advisory and Automation by engaging and coaching the rig crew.
Support connectivity, software upgrades, and system availability with IT, the rig contractor, and support teams.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and process issues; set up users, roles, and workstations.
Log software issues and enhancement ideas, propose bug fixes, and promote continuous improvement and cross-domain solutions.
Contribute to technical discussions on workflow optimization, past-well analysis, and project value; capture leads and opportunities.
Lead DrillOps implementation in the GU and hold performance reviews with DDEs, FDLs, and SDLs.
DrillOps Setup and Operations
Create wells in DrillOps and configure each well, section, and run from the Drilling Plan / Well Program (via DrillPlan DDP or manually).
Work with the WE, DD/MWD, Driller, and Client to design settings and align RCS settings with Advisory and Automation.
Support review and optimization of constraints while drilling, within approved technical and operational workflows.
Collect project KPIs, analyze planned vs. executed, and support end-of-section and end-of-well performance analysis.
Prepare and distribute Daily and Section PDF reports covering utilization, observations, issues, escalations, opportunities, and lessons learned.
Remote Monitoring and Escalation
• Monitor job execution for system usage, advisory outputs, automation utilization, and deviations from workflow.
Monitor data quality: missing channels, latency, incorrect mappings, rig state inconsistencies, and abnormal values.
Document utilization and system-related downtime for monthly RME KPIs; capture lessons learned from configuration, adoption, and execution gaps.
Escalate unexpected behaviour with evidence: screenshots, timestamps, well/section/run context, active settings, and data channels.
Data and Documentation Management
Maintain a structured folder per well: setup files, roadmaps, BHA information, checklists, reports, issue logs, screenshots, lessons learned, and final summaries.
Follow naming conventions and version control; keep an issue and action tracker for each monitored job.
Store troubleshooting and escalation evidence and ensure traceability of events, recommendations, escalations, and resolutions.
Key Interfaces
Rig crew (Driller, DD/MWD), Well Engineering, Rig Contractor, GU teams (DDEs, FDLs, SDLs), IT, Service hubs, Digital/Product organization.
