ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The Management Services Division (MSD) supports a community of over 4,000 team members, worldwide – ranging in profiles from Architects and Engineers to Drivers and Maintenance Workers. The Management Services functional area prides itself on providing quality customer
service while ensuring that WFP operations reach our beneficiaries, smoothly, even in the toughest conditions, through providing efficient, cost-effective digital solutions for our colleagues in the field. With the recent organizational redesign, and shift towards more efficient support
structures, this ToR serves to reflect MSD efforts to restructure its communications team to better leverage in house expertise towards its wider communication, advocacy and engagement requirements via a consolidated strategic support team.
The role focuses on supporting the implementation of Management Services Division (MSD) and Global Headquarters (GHQ) strategic initiatives, strengthening staff engagement and communication within the new two-layer organizational structure, creating high-quality communication and advocacy products, and advancing WFP and Management Services priorities through strategic outreach, resource mobilization and partnerships efforts, and stakeholder engagement. The position will also support WFP's engagement in UN80-related initiatives, contributing to organizational positioning, advocacy, leadership communications.
PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Reporting to the head of the Management Services Strategic Engagement, Communications,
and Information Management team, he/she will be responsible for the following duties:
• Support the implementation of MSD and GHQ strategic initiatives, ensuring effective communications, stakeholder engagement, and employee outreach within the new two-layer organizational structure.
• Support implementation of the Management Services communications framework, to maintain and enhance and strategically advise on the implementation of the wider Management Services portfolio including for Fleet, Engineering, Infrastructure and Facilities, Travel and Protocol, Asset Management, etc.
• Together with the wider MS Communications team, contribute to a structured approach for planning & delivery of stakeholder requirements though engagement by liaising with internal and external partners to foster collaboration and amplify advocacy efforts.
• Seek opportunities to promote MS projects, initiatives and achievements and support MS branch chiefs with strategic advice on effective positioning and advocating their work to enhance visibility and recognition with WFP and the broader UN system.
• Support MSD senior leadership through the preparation of strategic briefings, talking points, key messages, presentations, speeches, and stakeholder engagement materials related to Management Services priorities and UN80 initiatives.
• Lead strategic communications, advocacy, and stakeholder outreach for WFP-led UN80 initiatives, ensuring coherent organizational positioning and messaging while enhancing visibility, engagement, and support across the UN system, internal and external audiences. Coordinate internal and external communications, providing communications advice and supporting key initiatives, events, and campaigns.
• Develop and disseminate multimedia communications products and assets tailored to various audiences and channels.
• Ensure consistency and quality of communications materials while adapting content to reflect changing priorities and audience needs.
• Shape narratives to align with corporate values, emphasizing workplace culture and strategic priorities.
• Support advocacy efforts to elevate the division’s initiatives within the organization and externally.
• Monitor and evaluate communication impact to inform responsive strategies for engagement and outreach.
• Manage MSD's public and private sector partnerships, developing value propositions, identifying new funding and collaboration opportunities, preparing proposals and engagement materials, and leading innovative resource mobilization and fundraising initiatives in support of MSD priorities.
• Any other duties as determined by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
• University degree in Journalism, Communications, International
Development or another relevant field

Experience:

• At least 5 years of experience in marketing, journalism, digital
communications and/or international experience in a communication r elated position within a global organization
Knowledge & Skills:
• Strong strategic communications, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to shape narratives and position organizational priorities with internal and external audiences.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to persuade, and adapt communication styles to different situations and individuals
• Ability to produce high-quality written materials, including graphically based presentations and info graphics
• Experience in partnership development and resource mobilization, with the ability to identify opportunities, develop value propositions, and engage public and private sector partners.
• Strong creative problem-solving and detail-oriented
• Ability to manage competing priorities
• Ability to work across teams and cultures, building trust and collaboration
• Ability to coach and mentor junior staff
• Willingness to travel to difficult settings and countries
Languages: • Written and oral proficiency in English and French is essential.
• Other UN Languages are an asset.
