BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
Reporting to the Head of Product Delivery and Software Engineering, the Service Delivery
Inclusion Specialist is a key team member working on a range of disability and inclusion
initiatives.
The Specialist embraces the work of diversity and inclusion and recognizes its value as an
organizational practice.
The incumbent fosters technological innovation, creativity, and inclusive design of foundational
technologies that enable greater scalability of digital products and services, bringing WFP huge
potential.
The specialist carries out a continuous review of existing technology processes to ensure these
are inclusive and keep users with disabilities at the center of all tech practices to offer more
inclusive products and services.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist technical teams in day-to-day support operations when needed, prioritizing
diversity and inclusion requests.
• Coordinate with stakeholders within and outside the Technology Division, providing
advice on topics, related to inclusive technology in general but with special emphasis on
topics to support the visually impaired.
• Test and validate hardware set-ups for potential visually impaired staff and beneficiaries,
ensuring these are functional to the inclusiveness and delivery of WFP’s mission.
• Review email templates, webpages and other operational knowledge to ensure that
screen-readers and other tools leveraged by visually impaired users are able to render
accurate content.
• Provide technical expertise for visual impairment-related tasks, acting as a role model
and facilitator for the adoption of technology in this field.
• Review existing processes, governance and standards, suggesting changes to incorporate
diversity and inclusion topics in the TEC product journey.
• Provide expert advice on standard IT hardware and software to foster an inclusive
workplace.
• Contribute to the definition, planning and implementation of the Inclusive IT Service
Delivery strategy. Consolidate a framework of inclusive IT support in all phases, from
beneficiaries to WFP Personnel to Partners.
• Prepare and deliver presentations on inclusive technology topics to various stakeholders.
• Assist in the resolution of problems by monitoring the ITSM tool and responding to
queries, identifying and forwarding issues to the appropriate person.
• Perform other related duties as required.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
• The specialist incorporates diversity and inclusion considerations into the project
planning and delivery phases.
• The specialist offers feedback on diversity and inclusion matters, with a specific focus on
individuals with visual impairments.
• The incumbent contributes to official documents, providing the Technology Division with
governance on diversity and inclusion.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: University degree in Computer Sciences, IT Engineering, Languages or
related fields, or proven experience in Information Technology and
Inclusion topics.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, in delivering IT
services/solution with particular focus on diversity and inclusion topics.
Knowledge & Skills: • Good general IT skills with strong skill level in Windows and
MacOS environments.
• Excellent knowledge of diversity and inclusion topics. Ability to
coordinate delivery of IT services.
• Experience working in large international organizations.
• Conversant with the production of documentation on
information systems, governance and IT processes.
• Knowledge and Experience across Best Practice Methodologies
such as ITIL would be an asset.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments,
observing deadlines and achieving results.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative
environment, and good customer service orientation.
Languages: Fluency in oral and written English with an intermediate knowledge of
another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and
Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is desirable.
