Director of Business Development – Asset Management Division

Sales Territory: Nationwide

Job Summary:

This Business Development role supporting our Asset Management Division is responsible for overseeing and directing the daily sales operations. Key duties include meeting with major clients, preparing comprehensive sales reports, developing new and more effective sales strategies, and leading marketing and promotional efforts for the company's products and services. To achieve sales objectives, the incumbent will establish a strategic plan within their assigned accounts and markets, implement that plan, and build deep, long-term relationships with key stakeholders within the client organizations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for analyzing current accounts to identify add-on services; should demonstrate an ability to sell business to business services vs. a product.
  2. Creates and uses influence within key organizations to enhance BV’s position; Achieves sales objectives by developing and implementing sales plan for targeted clients in the following markets: K-12 schools, Higher ED, Affordable Housing, Federal Government and State and Local Government.
  3. Travel by Plane, Motor Vehicle, Train (up to 25% of workweek / work month) to client sites across the U.S. 
  4. Establishes objectives within the market by identifying key organizations and researching and analyzing these organizations; understands current and future market trends for key organizations.
  5. One of the key position objectives is to identify and qualify potential clients that fit BV’s ideal client profile with the goal of setting up client meetings to propose engagements with BV.
  6. Follow up and close leads established in conjunction with the Executive Vice President of Sales.
  7. Establishes objectives by forecasting and developing sales plan for assigned territories and projecting expected sales volume.
  8. Develops relationships with targeted clients by facilitating introductions, building rapport through additional contact, arranging /attending business events, and participating in industry functions.
  9. Establishes market by identifying, penetrating and developing long term relationships with key organizations or agencies managing asset portfolio. This position involved sales targeting, prospecting, proposing, upselling, and closing new business.
  10. Services targeted clients by conducting sales calls to establish an understanding of the account’s business strategies and organizational structure, as well as to position BV’s capabilities.
  11. Customizes BV services for clients by adjusting and focusing the sales efforts to targeted client’s business needs.
  12. Increases BV's business by developing broad, deep, long-term relationships within the client’s organization.
  13. Responds to client Requests for Information, Quotations, and Proposals while meeting strict deadlines.
  14. Acts as client representative within BV to identify and direct investigation of problems, develop solutions, and ensure projects are delivered as requested by client.
  15. May be required to indirectly or directly supervise employees within the sales team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work.
  16. Represents BV at local and national industry-specific conferences.
  17. Candidates must be able to cross sell services from other business lines.  
  18. Keeps management informed by working within Salesforce and communicating with management on a weekly/monthly basis about activities/progress within the assigned region.
  19. Devises new and innovative ways to market products and services.
  20. Compiles and submits information on specific client transactions for preparation of proposals, statements of qualification, etc.
  21. Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, market trends, etc.
  22. Protects operations by keeping company information confidential.
  23. Delivers outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions to clients’ needs.
  24. Demonstrates BV’s guiding principles in support of the company's strategic goals.
  25. Follows all documented policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of BV's quality standards and strategic initiatives.
  26. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university in related field
  •  In lieu of degree, 5 – 8 years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience selling services within the Asset Advisory realm
  • Ability to navigate complex, relationship-driven sales cycles

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

  1. Valid driver's license required with no significant motor vehicle record (MVR) points/violations (clean driving record).

Skills & Competencies:

Language Ability: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, peers, and technical field staff.

 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

 

Technology Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in operating a computer, having knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and project management software.
