Schrödinger seeks an Applications Scientist to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods.

Schrödinger has pioneered a physics-based computational platform that enables discovery of high-quality, novel molecules for drug development and materials applications more rapidly and at lower cost than traditional methods. The software platform is licensed by biopharmaceutical and industrial companies, academic institutions, and government laboratories around the world. Our multidisciplinary drug discovery team also leverages the software platform to advance a portfolio of collaborative and proprietary programs to address unmet medical needs.

As part of our European team, you’ll train and guide customers in their use of our state-of-the-art software platform to address challenging problems in drug discovery and maximize the impact of computational methods. You will also actively participate in research projects to advance the field of computer-driven molecular design.

We plan to fill this position in one of our two offices in Germany (Mannheim or Munich), or remotely in Paris.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide scientific support to current and prospective customers, including education on the optimal use of Schrödinger’s life science software platform
  • Facilitate interactions between customers and product development teams
  • Advance the field of computer-driven drug discovery through active research and scientific collaborations
  • Promote knowledge transfer (for instance, by publishing scientific papers and presenting at conferences)

What you should have:

  • PhD and postdoctoral research in computational chemistry, bioinformatics, or related fields, or at least five years of experience in computational drug discovery in the commercial sector
  • A solid understanding of the commercial drug discovery process
  • Excellent English language skills (both verbal and written); Spanish language skills are a plus
  • Willingness to travel
  • Experience with biologics (antibody, enzyme, or peptide modelling; protein-protein docking, etc.) preferred
  • Practical experience with machine learning technologies or different modalities is a plus
