Mission: Our everyday mission is to education students in short-term and professional programs for gainful employment and career advancement.  https://www.success.edu/careers-with-sec/ POSITION SUMMARY   -  12 hours a week at any given day online  The Adjunct Faculty – English Comprehension is responsible for teaching undergraduate English comprehension courses that support the general education and professional communication requirements of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The instructor focuses on developing students’ reading comprehension, critical analysis, academic writing, and communication skills essential for success in nursing coursework, clinical practice, and professional settings. Instruction must align with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and approved curricula, reports to the Campus Director/Dean of Nursing. SSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITES Teach assigned English Comprehension courses in accordance with approved course outlines, objectives, and student learning outcomes. Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction emphasizing reading comprehension, vocabulary development, critical thinking, and written communication. Integrate healthcare- and nursing-related readings to support student success in the BSN program. Develop and maintain course syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments in compliance with institutional requirements. Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently; provide timely, constructive feedback to promote learning and improvement. Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and instructional records and submit required reports by established deadlines. Create an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse learners, adult students, and varying academic backgrounds. Utilize instructional technology and the learning management system (LMS) for in-person, hybrid, or online instruction. Hold office hours or provide academic support to students as required. Participate in faculty meetings, training sessions, assessment activities, and professional development as assigned. Uphold academic integrity and enforce institutional policies and classroom standards. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Strong knowledge of English comprehension, academic reading strategies, and college-level writing. Ability to design and deliver engaging, outcomes-based instruction. Familiarity with teaching reading and comprehension skills in a healthcare or professional context. Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle). Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Commitment to student success, equity, and academic excellence. QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERINCE Master’s degree in English, Composition, Reading, Literacy, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution, OR Master’s degree in another discipline with 18 graduate semester credit hours in English, Reading, or a related content area Prior postsecondary teaching experience preferred. Experience working with adult learners or diverse student populations preferred.
