Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist (4-Month Contract) - Hybrid

Location: Lake Forest, Illinois

Position Type: Contract (4 months)

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable Specialist for a 4-month part time (20-25 hour) contract position based in Lake Forest, Illinois. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and processing all aspects of accounts payable to ensure accurate and timely payments of invoices. This role requires a proactive individual with strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Invoice Processing:
  • Review, verify, and process invoices and expense reports.
  • Ensure all invoices are approved according to company policy.
  • Match purchase orders to invoices and receipts.
  1. Payment Management:
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
  • Manage the weekly check run.
  • Post transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records.
  1. Vendor Relations:
  • Communicate with vendors regarding payment inquiries.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
  • Maintain vendor files and ensure all information is up-to-date.
  1. Reconciliation:
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of vendor statements.
  • Assist with month-end closing activities.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions.
  1. Reporting:
  • Prepare accounts payable reports as needed.
  • Assist with internal and external audits.
  1. Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements related to accounts payable.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar role.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
    • Strong knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel.
    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Environment:
  • This position is based in Lake Forest, Illinois.
  • Standard office environment with the possibility of hybrid work arrangements.
