Job Type: Existing Vacancy
Salary: $70k to $90k
Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead and support our Waste Audit Team while helping deliver accurate, safe, and high-quality waste audit services to clients across Canada. You will balance people leadership and day-to-day audit operations with opportunities to work with clients, support sustainability initiatives, and help grow and improve our services.
What you will be doing:
- Lead, coach, and support the Waste Audit Team, helping employees succeed through clear direction, mentorship, training, and development.
- Coordinate audit schedules, field work, and project priorities to help ensure audits are completed safely, on time, and on budget.
- Review audit reports and deliverables for accuracy, consistency, compliance, and a strong client experience.
- Look for practical ways to improve audit processes, team workflows, and the services we offer our clients.
- Champion health and safety across audit operations, working closely with the Joint Health and Safety Committee, and stay current on relevant waste regulations and compliance requirements.
- Work alongside our National and Major Account teams on customer visits, sustainability programs, waste diversion opportunities, and account support. Bring a strategic, sales-aware lens to these conversations, helping identify where audit and sustainability services can drive additional account growth.
- Contribute to RFPs and client proposals, including helping with the scope, pricing, and positioning of waste audit services.
- Think strategically about how to position our services competitively and help spot upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
- Share your sustainability knowledge through employee and client education, industry events, and internal engagement initiatives.
What will help you succeed:
- A bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in waste management, sustainability, or environmental consulting, including 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Hands-on experience conducting or leading waste auditing, waste diversion, regulatory compliance, and sustainability practices. Familiarity with Ontario waste regulations, EPR frameworks, and standards such as BOMA, LEED, or GRESB is valuable.
- Comfort working with data and reports using tools such as Excel and Power BI, along with experience contributing to proposals, RFPs, or quality assurance work.
- A people-first leadership style with strong communication, coaching, client relationship, and collaboration skills. Proven ability to lead a team through performance challenges, conflict, or change, not just when things are going smoothly.
- A strong, genuine commitment to health and safety, with experience building or reinforcing a safety culture for teams doing physical or field-based work.
- Strong business acumen with a strategic, sales-aware mindset — comfortable contributing to pricing conversations, positioning, and identifying growth opportunities alongside our Sales team.
- A practical, curious mindset and an interest in improving processes, solving problems, and developing new services.
- Ability to travel occasionally across Canada for on-site audits and customer visits. Some site visits may involve waste-handling environments, standing for longer periods, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- A post-graduate certificate in Sustainable Business Management and/or EP (Environmental Professional) certification in Waste Management and Sustainability is an asset, not a requirement.
