GENERAL SUMMARY

Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.  Maintains the appropriate level of controls and supervision to ensure accurate and timely reporting from the department.

Position Duties & Functions

  • Prepares and/or reviews month/quarter-end financial reports including NCUA 5300 report.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position. 
  • Responsible for researching and documenting abnormalities or significant changes.
  • Prepares and/or reviews variance reports as needed including Budget to Actual analysis.
  • Works with Controller to prepare annual non-interest income and expense budget.
  • Research and document technical accounting issues as necessary to ensure compliance with GAAP. 
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory accounting/reporting requirements.
  • Works with Controller to establish, modify, document, and coordinate implementation of accounting procedures, accounting control procedures, and general accounting systems. 
  •  Coaches/supervises staff responsible for accounting month-end close.
  • Manages staff responsible for general ledger/bank reconciliations and oversees management of Payroll, Settlement, and Accounts Payable functions.
  • Responds to inquiries from various levels of management regarding data contained in financial statements.
  • Researches and responds to inquiries of federal examiners, as well as internal and external auditors in written and verbal form.
  • Continually evaluates department processes to identify opportunities for improvement and efficient operation.
  • Other duties as assigned

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 EXPERIENCE and EDUCATION

  • 6+ years’ related accounting experience required, including at least 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in accounting from four‑year college or university.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated qualifications.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from members, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, groups of members, and/or boards of directors in both written and oral form.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, including email, using correct spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
  • Ability to write and speak effectively in English using correct spelling and grammar.
  • Basic math skills including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages using a 10-key.
  • Proficient in the use of basic applications in a Windows-based environment, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Moderate keyboard skills at 40 wpm.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Work involves extensive use of computers, up to eight hours per day. Appropriate vision, dexterity, and other physical abilities are required.
    • May include occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
    • Must be able to speak and present on the telephone and/or through digital means of communication, including but not limited to Zoom/Teams/or other video technologies.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS:

    Zone 1: $179,764.00 - $224,705.00

    Zone 2: $163,585.24 - $204,481.55

    Zone 3: $151,001.76 - $207,627.42

    Zone 4: $143,811.20 - $197,740.40

    This position is eligible to participate in the Key Employee Incentive Plan. Annual incentive opportunity ranges from 0–14% of incentive eligible earnings, based on institutional performance (0–4%) and individual performance (0–10%). Incentive payments are discretionary and subject to approval.
