The UI/UX Lead serves as the senior user experience and human-centered design authority for the GSAFleet.gov program, responsible for ensuring that all digital products, workflows, and customer interactions are intuitive, accessible, efficient, and aligned with mission objectives. Working closely with Government Product Managers, Product Owners, Solution Architects, Agile Development Teams, and business stakeholders, the UI/UX Lead translates complex operational requirements into user-centered solutions that improve customer satisfaction, workforce productivity, and adoption of GSA Fleet services.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct research with agency customers, Fleet employees, suppliers, and other relevant users; document needs and pain points.
• Create personas, journeys, workflows, wireframes, prototypes, and interaction designs for assigned GSAFleet.gov products.
• Establish and promote consistent user-experience patterns across GSAFleet.gov products and Managed Services.
• Conduct usability studies, interpret results, and recommend prioritized improvements to product backlogs.
• Incorporate Section 508 accessibility requirements into designs, prototypes, acceptance criteria, and usability validation.
• Work with Government Product Managers and Development Leads to define user-centered stories, acceptance criteria, and design specifications.
• Promote consistent patterns, accessible interfaces, and effective experiences across products and Managed Services.
• Assess released features using user feedback and task outcomes; refine designs based on evidence
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
• 10+ years of developing user experience for large-scale software development projects.
• Must be able to undergo a Tier 2S Investigation and receive a favorable investigation/adjudication outcome
• Successfully pass background and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

• Designed fleet, transportation, or asset-management workflows for customers, suppliers, dispatchers, or vehicle-service staff
• Human-centered design, UX research, or accessibility credentials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Can translate research into personas, task flows, prototypes, interface specifications, and testable usability criteria.
• Can communicate design decisions to Fleet Product Managers, developers, and stakeholders across customer, supplier, vehicle, business, and Managed Services workflows.
• Understands accessibility and Section 508 design and validation practices
• Designed and delivered surveys, conducted user interviews, and analyzed and synthesized research findings.
• Used design thinking, Agile practices, and product-management principles for customer-focused products.
• Created visual and interaction designs based on user data and analysis.
• Applies Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles to create intuitive user interfaces that support desired user outcomes.
