Technical Solution Lead – Learning Technology

This is a remote position.

You'll take over an established portfolio and hold it at programme level, across clients and platforms rather than one project at a time. The role is based in South Africa, with a global client base. You'll report to the Head of Product Development, with a dotted line to the Head of Solutions.

What you'll do

• Own the learning-technology solution across a portfolio of client programmes. You set the approach and standards so the work holds together across clients and platforms.
  
• Lead solutioning on new opportunities. You scope, size and cost the work, write the solution narrative and technical approach, and defend it in commercial conversations.
  
• Lead the technical scoping, architecture and management of Moodle and Surge9 implementations, which is about half the role. This includes platform governance: plugin security, POPIA compliance, CI/CD, LTI and interoperability.
  
• Bring infrastructure, development, data-visualisation and platform partners together into one linked system. You hold technical quality across parties you don't directly manage.
  
• Work with the client leads who own each account, and link the learning-technology solution into the wider programme, including content and other services.
  
• Work closely with our Product team, shaping client solutions that draw on, and feed back into, our productised platform capability.
  
• Specify what each solution needs so our Delivery team can plan and execute: components, success measures, costs, skills and partner inputs.
  
• Build solutioning capability in others through method-sharing and coaching. We work squad-first, so this is an enabling role, not a solo expert seat.
  

Requirements

What you'll bring

• 8–12 years in learning technology, digital learning systems, ed-tech delivery or technical solutioning, with depth in large-scale learning platforms.
  
• Moodle experience is essential. Surge9 or a comparable enterprise learning platform (such as Totara, Docebo or Cornerstone) is an advantage.
  
• A track record of owning a technical approach across multiple engagements or clients, not only delivering discrete projects.
  
• Client-facing solutioning or technical-advisory experience, including work with senior stakeholders.
  
• Hands-on experience scoping and managing platform implementations and governance: security, POPIA or equivalent data-protection compliance, LTI and interoperability, and CI/CD.
  
• Experience coordinating infrastructure, development and data-visualisation partners.
  

Years matter less than evidence. If you have built, architected and led this kind of work with fewer years, we'd still like to hear from you.

• You make structure visible. You map systems as blocks and relationships, often live in the room, so others can pressure-test them.
  
• You give vague client needs a shape, such as an architecture or a measurable structure that others can work from.
  
• You write and present clearly, you choose Word or PowerPoint depending on the audience, and you work comfortably with and through AI.
  
• You hold solution quality and commercial reality together.
