Technical Product Owner

This is a remote position.

We're looking for a Technical Product Owner to bridge business stakeholders, Product Management, and engineering. You'll turn product strategy into clear, technically sound backlog items, and work directly with Engineering, QA, DevOps, and Data to ship features that hit measurable business outcomes. This role suits someone who is as comfortable reading an API contract or a schema diagram as they are negotiating priorities with a VP.

Requirements

•      Own and continuously refine the product backlog — clear, prioritized, and ready for delivery.

•      Write user stories, functional requirements, and acceptance criteria that engineering and QA can build against with minimal back-and-forth.

•      Translate business objectives from Product Management into actionable technical specifications.

•      Leverage generative AI tools to assist in drafting, refining, and structuring comprehensive user stories, technical specifications, and edge-case scenarios.

Delivery & Collaboration

•      Partner with Engineering, QA, DevOps, and Architecture on solution design and delivery planning.

•      Facilitate Agile ceremonies — sprint planning, refinement, reviews, retrospectives.

•      Identify and resolve technical dependencies, blockers, and delivery risks; escalate what you can't unblock yourself.

•      Support release planning, deployment readiness, and go-live coordination.

Performance & Documentation

•      Keep requirements, workflows, APIs, integrations, and data flows documented and current.

•      Utilize AI-driven analytics and research tools to synthesize user feedback, identify usage patterns, and feed insights directly into backlog prioritization.

•      Partner with Data/Analytics to validate delivered work against KPIs (e.g., adoption rate, cycle time, defect escape rate — see "How Success Is Measured").

•      Feed performance data and stakeholder feedback back into backlog prioritization.

Requirements

•      3–6 years as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Technical Product Manager in an Agile environment.

•      Working technical fluency: can read an API contract or DB schema, follow a sequence diagram, and hold a credible design conversation with engineers — this isn't a BA role with extra vocabulary.

•      Practical experience with APIs, microservices, system integrations, and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

•      Hands-on Agile/Scrum experience and backlog tooling (Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or similar).

•      Track record writing clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria.

•      Strong stakeholder management — comfortable prioritizing, negotiating, and saying no to both engineers and executives.

•      Hands-on experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Jira AI) to speed up requirements gathering, technical documentation, and workflow optimization.

•      Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

•      CI/CD, DevOps practices, or enterprise integration experience.

•      Background on data-driven products, SaaS platforms, or enterprise technology.

•      Exposure to event-driven architecture and production incident/release support.

•      CSPO, PSPO, or equivalent Agile certification.
