Technical Data Center Manager

Position Summary:

Motive Software Solutions is seeking an experienced Technical Data Center Manager to lead the operation, maintenance, and optimization of our data center infrastructure, Security and Applications team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, security, scalability, and performance of critical systems while managing technical teams, vendors, and operational processes.

 Main Responsibilities

• Lead the operation, maintenance, security, and continuous optimization of data center infrastructure, enterprise applications, and IT services to ensure high availability, reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Manage and maintain all hardware and software systems, including servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and related peripherals, ensuring timely upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
• Administer and support network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, connectivity services, and interconnection solutions.
• Oversee OpenStack and OpenShift environments, ensuring infrastructure stability, capacity planning, security compliance, and operational excellence across hosted platforms and services.
• Develop, implement, and enforce IT governance, security policies, disaster recovery strategies, backup solutions, and operational procedures to safeguard systems, data integrity, and business continuity.
• Lead the infrastructure teams, providing technical guidance, performance management, resource planning, and support for strategic initiatives and service delivery objectives.
• Lead the performance evaluations for team including goals setting performance ratings, individual performance plan and year end reviews
• Monitor infrastructure, applications, and network performance through proactive alerting, reporting, and capacity management processes, identifying risks and resolving issues before they impact business operations.
• Manage vendor relationships, contracts, software licensing, asset inventory, procurement activities, and service-level agreements to ensure cost-effective and reliable technology services.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing operational processes, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), preparing executive status reports, and implementing efficiencies that enhance data center operations, managed services deployments, and future migration projects.
• Research emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, providing recommendations and strategic direction to improve infrastructure performance, security, automation, and operational resilience.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. (preferred)
• 5+ or more years of experience in data center maintenance in technical role
• 5+ years of proven mastery and experience in hands-on IT role.
• Over 5 years of experience managing direct reports in a mid-level leadership role, overseeing performance reviews, employee development goal setting, appraisals, and the effective resolution of team escalations.
• Proven experience as an IT Systems Administrator with expertise in OpenStack and OpenShift, VPN, AWS, Azure and Office 365.
• Strong knowledge of VMWare
• Strong knowledge of Windows, MacOS and Linux operations systems, virtualization technologies, and cloud platforms.
• Experience with networking, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and data backup and recovery.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex IT issues.
• DevOps, orchestration, automation, or digitalization a strong plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
