Tech Architect Practitioner

About the role

Crosslake is looking for a Technical Architect to support technology engagements across a range of clients. In this role, you will work with investors, portfolio company leadership teams and technology leaders to define and deliver technical architectures that enable measurable business outcomes.

You will bring deep technical credibility to complex technology engagements, helping clients make practical decisions on application, cloud, infrastructure, integration, data and delivery architectures.

The ideal candidate combines broad technology architecture expertise with meaningful depth in modern engineering practices, the ability to work effectively in a consulting environment, communicate clearly with senior stakeholders and translate business priorities into workable technical solutions.

You will be expected to assess current-state technology capabilities, shape target architectures, lead complex technical workstreams and contribute to clear, evidence-based recommendations.

This is a role for someone who is comfortable moving between business and technology conversations, and who can connect strategic ambition to pragmatic architecture choices, implementation priorities and delivery roadmaps.

Role responsibilities

• Lead technical architecture workstreams on complex client engagements, including assessing current-state applications, infrastructure, cloud environments, integration patterns, data platforms and technical constraints.
• Define pragmatic target-state technical architectures that align business priorities, application, infrastructure and data requirements, security, scalability, resilience and delivery feasibility.
• Advise clients on technology platform and architecture choices, including cloud platforms, application modernisation, infrastructure, integration, software delivery tooling, data platforms and analytics environments.
• Translate business and technology requirements into clear architecture principles, technical designs, transition plans and delivery priorities.
• Develop and communicate architecture recommendations that are credible with senior technology leaders while remaining clear and actionable for non-technical stakeholders.
• Identify key risks, dependencies, technical debt and delivery constraints, and recommend practical approaches to mitigate them.
• Work closely with client teams and Crosslake specialists to ensure technical architecture decisions support product, engineering, cloud, security, data and broader transformation objectives.
• Challenge assumptions, pressure-test proposed designs and ensure recommendations balance strategic ambition with cost, complexity, operational resilience and time to value.
• Support the development of prioritised roadmaps that move clients from current-state constraints to a scalable, resilient and fit-for-purpose technology capability.

What we’re looking for

• Significant experience in technical, solutions or enterprise architecture, software engineering or related technical leadership roles, with a track record of designing and delivering complex technology solutions.
• Strong practical knowledge of modern technical architectures and platforms, including cloud services, application architectures, infrastructure, integration patterns, software delivery practices, security and reliability.
• Experience assessing existing technology estates and defining target-state architectures, transition approaches and delivery roadmaps.
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies, security, resilience, observability, performance, scalability and operational considerations, with meaningful depth in data architecture and modern data platforms, including data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouses, integration patterns, data modelling, data governance, quality and analytics.
• The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear recommendations for senior business, data and technology stakeholders.
• Credibility with senior technical leaders, including CTOs, CIOs, CDOs, Heads of Engineering, Heads of Data and enterprise architects.
• Experience working across the full technology lifecycle, from architecture and platform design through software delivery, deployment, operation, modernisation and continuous improvement.
• A practical, hands-on mindset, with the ability to move between architecture design, technical problem solving and client-facing advisory work.
• Consulting, advisory or multi-client delivery experience is desirable, along with the ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
