AI Summary

The Talk Therapy Clinical Lead will supervise a team of licensed therapists, providing clinical support, risk oversight, and performance management. They will also maintain a small direct caseload while ensuring clinical quality and consistency across the virtual platform.

About the Role

We deliver talk therapy across all 50 states through our virtual care service: licensed therapists, the same therapist visit over visit, and 45 or 50 -minute sessions. As demand grows, our therapist team is growing fast, and we need a clinical leadership layer purpose-built to support it.

The Talk Therapy Clinical Lead is that layer. Reporting to our senior behavioral health clinical leader, you will provide clinical support to a team of licensed therapists delivering care on the platform. You support the clinical quality, safety, and consistency of the therapy they provide, and their experience as members of a remote team. In this role, you will also keep a small direct caseload so you stay close to the work your team does every day.

What You'll Do

As the Talk Therapy Clinical Lead, you will supervise a team of licensed therapists, reporting to the senior behavioral health clinical leader and partnering with Clinical Operations, Product, and Member Experience. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Case Consultation and Clinical Support: Provide case consultations, treatment-plan review, and clinical decision support, so that every member receives safe, effective, evidence-based care.
  • Risk and Crisis Oversight: Support the team's risk-management pathways for suicidal or homicidal ideation, abuse and mandated reporting, duty-to-warn situations, and other clinical emergencies. Be the escalation point for high-acuity and complex cases and ensure clinicians know exactly what to do and when.
  • Clinical Oversight: Run regular one-on-ones, support performance and retention, and help each clinician grow their craft and their career on a remote team.
  • Clinical Quality and Documentation: Oversee the chart review team, conduct chart and documentation reviews, monitor measurement-based-care and outcome data, and close the loop with coaching when quality or consistency drifts.
  • Standards and Protocols: Partner with the senior behavioral health leader to maintain clinical protocols, safety workflows, and care pathways for the talk therapy program, and keep them current as the program evolves.
  • Onboarding and Calibration: Onboard newly hired therapists, calibrate clinical approach across the team, and deliver clinical training and oversight that raises the floor and the ceiling.
  • Multi-State Compliance: Ensure care delivery meets state licensure, telehealth, and scope-of-practice requirements across all 50 states.
  • Capacity Partnership: Work with Clinical Operations on therapist availability, scheduling, and continuity , so that clinical quality and access scale together rather than against each other.
  • Direct Care: Maintain a small direct therapy caseload to stay close to the member and clinician experience and to model the standard you hold the team to.

Why You Might Be a Good Fit

  • You are an experienced, fully licensed therapist who has already supervised or led other clinicians and found that you love developing people as much as treating members.
  • You hold a high clinical bar and can articulate what good therapy looks like, then coach a team toward it without micromanaging.
  • You are calm and decisive in clinical risk situations.
  • You think about quality and access at the same time, and you understand that continuity and time-to-care are part of the clinical outcome, not separate from it.
  • You are comfortable in a fast-moving, remote, technology-forward environment and curious about how AI and good tooling can make clinicians' work better rather than harder.

This Might Not Be The Right Fit If...

  • You want a pure individual-contributor caseload with no responsibility for other clinicians' work; the heart of this role is supervision and leadership.
  • You are uncomfortable being the clinical escalation point for high-acuity or crisis situations across a team.
  • You prefer a single-state, single-setting practice and are not interested in the complexity of multi-state telehealth.
  • You see documentation review, outcome measurement, and quality oversight as busywork rather than as core to safe care at scale.

Your Qualifications

  • Active, unrestricted, independent clinical license in good standing as an LCSW, LMFT, LPC or LPCC, or a licensed psychologist (PhD or PsyD), in at least one US state, with the willingness and ability to obtain additional state licenses.
  • 5+ years of post-licensure clinical practice delivering psychotherapy providing care to a variety of populations and acuity levels.
  • 2+ years supervising, leading, or formally mentoring other clinicians.
  • Direct experience in telehealth or virtual behavioral health, and comfort delivering and overseeing care over video and other virtual modalities.
  • Strong command of clinical risk management, crisis and safety protocols, mandated reporting, and evidence-based, measurement-based care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to give clear, supportive, direct feedback to other clinicians.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Bonus Points

  • Licensed in multiple states, or participation in PSYPACT or the Counseling Compact.
  • Experience standing up or scaling a clinical supervision structure at a high-growth telehealth or virtual care company.
  • Experience with outcome-measurement tools and modern EHR or documentation systems, including AI-assisted documentation.
  • Background across multiple therapeutic modalities (for example, CBT, DBT, ACT)

The national pay range for this role is $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year.
