Position Summary

The System Administrator is responsible for supporting the administration, security, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of the organization’s core Microsoft technology environment. This role contributes to the administration of the Microsoft 365 tenant, Microsoft Entra ID identity platform, and Microsoft Intune endpoint management environment, helping ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology services across the organization.

The System Administrator supports a distributed workforce that includes patient support program staff, field nurses, reimbursement specialists, and corporate employees. The role provides technical support, manages user identities and devices, assists with system configuration and security controls, troubleshoots technical issues, and contributes to technology projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and other members of the technology team, the System Administrator helps maintain a secure and scalable technology environment that supports business operations and the delivery of patient support programs.


Key Responsibilities

Microsoft 365 Administration

  • Support the administration, configuration, and maintenance of the Microsoft 365 environment.
  • Manage user accounts, licensing, groups, permissions, and access across Microsoft 365 services.
  • Support Microsoft Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and other Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Troubleshoot Microsoft 365 access, configuration, synchronization, and application issues.
  • Monitor service health and assist with resolving Microsoft 365 incidents and disruptions.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of Microsoft 365 security and compliance configurations.

Identity & Access Management

  • Administer user identities and access through Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Manage user provisioning, deprovisioning, group memberships, roles, and access permissions.
  • Support multi-factor authentication (MFA), Conditional Access, Single Sign-On (SSO), and other identity security controls.
  • Assist with identity lifecycle processes associated with employee onboarding, transfers, role changes, and offboarding.
  • Perform regular access reviews and assist with maintaining appropriate role-based access controls.
  • Investigate and resolve authentication and account access issues.

Endpoint & Device Management

  • Administer corporate endpoints using Microsoft Intune.
  • Support device enrollment, configuration profiles, compliance policies, application deployment, and endpoint security controls.
  • Configure and maintain Windows devices and other supported corporate endpoints.
  • Monitor device health, compliance, encryption, patching, and security status.
  • Troubleshoot endpoint, application, connectivity, and device-management issues.
  • Support remote deployment, configuration, maintenance, and secure removal of corporate devices.

Technical Support & Operations

  • Provide technical support and escalation assistance for employees across a distributed workforce.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, account, connectivity, application, and access-related issues.
  • Support technology requirements for contact centre agents, field-based employees, reimbursement teams, and corporate functions.
  • Coordinate with technology vendors and service providers to resolve incidents and technical issues.
  • Document incidents, resolutions, configurations, and recurring technical issues.
  • Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis where required.

Security & Compliance

  • Assist with implementing and maintaining organizational cybersecurity standards and controls.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts, suspicious account activity, device compliance issues, and access concerns.
  • Support endpoint protection, encryption, authentication, access management, and security configuration requirements.
  • Assist with vulnerability remediation, software updates, patch management, and security improvements.
  • Support technology-related audits, assessments, and compliance activities.
  • Follow organizational requirements related to privacy, confidentiality, information security, and protection of sensitive information.

System Administration & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor system performance, availability, and configuration to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with implementation, testing, and deployment of new technology solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, system configurations, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive administrative and support processes.
  • Support technology projects, system upgrades, integrations, migrations, and organizational change initiatives.
  • Assist with evaluating new technologies and recommending improvements to system reliability, security, and employee experience.



Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Administration, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems administration, IT infrastructure, technical support, or a related role.
  • Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft Intune.
  • Experience supporting Windows-based endpoints and a distributed or remote workforce.
  • Experience with identity and access management, endpoint management, and Microsoft cloud technologies.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Windows environments.
  • Knowledge of identity and access management, MFA, Conditional Access, endpoint security, device compliance, and role-based access controls.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve system, application, device, and access issues.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity, privacy, confidentiality, and information security best practices.
  • Experience with PowerShell, system administration, automation, and technical documentation is an asset.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to employees with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, distributed environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, vendors, and technology partners.
  • Demonstrates accountability, adaptability, continuous improvement, and a strong security mindset.
