The Opportunity

We're looking for a Health & Safety Supervisor to provide leadership, technical expertise, and frontline support across our remote field operations as we continue advancing one of the world's largest undeveloped copper-gold-silver projects.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines field presence with responsibility for health and safety programs, systems, incident management, contractor readiness, training, medical services oversight, and continuous improvement. You'll work closely with employees, contractors, and site leadership to ensure health and safety requirements are integrated into day-to-day work while helping prepare the organization for future project development phases.

Owned by Teck and Newmont, the project is being advanced through a collaborative, safety-focused approach that emphasizes responsible development, strong partnerships, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

Health & Safety Program Leadership

  • Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of health and safety programs, procedures, standards, and management systems.
  • Support the development and refinement of programs to meet evolving operational, project, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on trends, audits, and operational needs.

Risk Management & Operational Support

  • Participate in operational planning activities to ensure health and safety risks are identified and controlled before work begins.
  • Conduct inspections, workplace assessments, and field observations.
  • Support hazard management, risk assessments, emergency preparedness, and contractor readiness initiatives.
  • Participate in contractor pre-qualification, mobilization, and work planning activities.

Incident Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate incident reporting, investigations, documentation, and corrective action processes.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and support implementation of preventative measures.
  • Promote organizational learning through trend analysis, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Training & Workforce Development

  • Coordinate and deliver health and safety orientations, training programs, coaching, and awareness initiatives.
  • Support supervisor development in incident prevention, risk management, and safety leadership.
  • Coordinate supervisor training activities and ensure requirements are completed in advance of operational needs.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to Health & Safety Coordinators and seasonal field resources.

Health, Medical Services & Emergency Preparedness

  • Oversee site medical services, including contractor coordination, budgeting, logistics, and service delivery monitoring.
  • Support emergency preparedness planning, drills, response readiness activities, and emergency response coordination.
  • Assist with the effective management of medical incidents and emergency situations.

Systems, Reporting & Analytics

  • Act as a subject matter expert for health and safety management systems, including DATS or equivalent platforms.
  • Administer incident reporting, inspections, action tracking, training records, asset management, and compliance activities.
  • Analyze safety performance data and prepare reports, dashboards, and recommendations that support informed decision-making.


What You’ll Bring

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Risk Management, Environmental Health, or a related discipline.
  • Occupational health and safety designation, or progress toward a designation, is considered an asset.
  • Training or certifications such as Incident Investigation, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, or related safety certifications are considered assets.

Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive health and safety experience in mining, exploration, construction, forestry, heavy industry, or other resource-sector environments.
  • Experience supporting remote, camp-based, or field operations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and improving workplace health and safety programs.
  • Incident investigation training and practical incident management experience.
  • Leadership, supervisory, or team coordination experience.
  • Experience with health and safety management systems such as DATS or similar platforms.
  • Experience analyzing performance metrics and preparing reports for leaders and stakeholders.
