Bare is Australia's most highly rated end of life business - supporting Australian families through the hardest time in their life.
We are a company dedicated to providing accessible, affordable end-of-life care to change the way that Australians deal with death. Our aim is to change the game in the funeral industry which has long provided expensive, traditional, cookie cutter services that don't always meet the needs of the modern Australian.
By combining empathy with technology, we're creating end-of-life experiences that are simple, personalised and affordable. In only five years, we've served more than 50,000 families, have become Australia's most awarded end-of-life provider (with awards in customer service, innovation and digital disruption), and have built a team of more than 200 people committed to changing the way Australians deal with end-of-life. And we're just getting started.

Bare is moving from a distributed, state-by-state way of operating to a central services model — and we need someone to build the operating system that makes it work. This is a "how do we take everything that brilliant people know and hardwire it into the way the organisation runs" role.
You'll own the job of identifying best practice across every part of the Bare experience, then turning it into systems, automations, and workflows that scale. You'll lead a small team of subject matter experts and work directly with senior leadership. You'll be given a lot of rope, a clear mandate, and the expectation that you'll build something that outlasts you.
Map end-to-end operational processes across Bare, extracting tacit knowledge from subject matter experts and turning it into documented, repeatable systems
Design and implement workflows, automations, and integrations that remove friction and build consistency across the business
Identify where AI and automation tools can do the heavy lifting — and go build those things
Lead a small team of SMEs, acting as the connective tissue between domain expertise and system design
Work directly in tools (HubSpot, Notion, and others) to understand how they work, where they fall short, and how to make them work better for specific workflows
Own the roadmap for operational process improvement across the business
Essential
4–7 years of experience, with at least some time spent building operational systems in a scaling business (100–500 people is the sweet spot)
You've actually built a system that still works without you — and you can talk about it
Strong systems thinking and process design skills — you see workflows where others see chaos
Technically fluent enough to write integration specs, evaluate tooling, and have a real conversation with engineers — without being one yourself
Comfortable with ambiguity; you don't need a perfectly defined brief to get started
Strong people skills — you know how to draw out the thing someone knows but can't quite articulate
Ideal
Background in strategy consulting, investment banking, venture, or a high-velocity ops role at a scaling tech business
Automation and AI literacy — you've used these tools to solve real operational problems, not just talked about them
You're at a stage where you want to get on the tools and build something real, and a scaling business feels more exciting than a PowerPoint deck
What's in it for me?
Someone in our end-of-life team recently described their role this way: "This is the most impactful work I've ever done. I feel lucky to be able to help people that truly need support." So, there's that. We've also been named one of the 2026 Top 10 Inspiring Workplaces across Australasia — proof that our people-first culture is more than just talk. #PeopleFirst
In addition, we offer:
The main reason you'll join, though, is because you believe in what we do and are excited to truly transform an industry.
