(based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week).

Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Reporting to the Manager of Value Based Care Financial Performance, the Sr Value Based Programs Financial Analyst is a key subject matter expert responsible for advanced financial, utilization, and healthcare data analysis supporting value-based programs. The role analyzes claims, financial, clinical, and statistical data to evaluate total medical expense (TME), utilization trends, risk adjustment, cost drivers, and value-based contract performance while ensuring data accuracy. The Sr Financial Analyst develops actionable insights, executive-ready reporting, financial projections, savings/loss analyses, and performance forecasts, and works with actuarial partners to develop, evaluate, and interpret savings/loss projections and financial forecasts supporting value-based programs. This position works closely with the Office of Clinical Integration (OCI) leadership, analytics, finance, and operational team to translate complex data into clear recommendations that improve value-based program financial performance.

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Leads the development and refinement of financial reports, executive summaries, and dashboards to track the performance of value-based programs.
  • Reviews and enhances existing reports, procedures, and systems to optimize reporting processes and ensure accuracy.
  • Prepares analytic reports to summarize total medical expenses (TME), utilization trends, risk adjustment data, value-based contract performance, and cost drivers to help identify areas for improvement.
  • Track performance against financial targets, conduct variance analyses, and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Develop financial projections, financial modeling, gainsharing calculations, and, under guidance, collaborate with actuarial partners on saving/loss projections, forecasting assumptions, and financial models supporting value-based programs.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses, feasibility studies, and market evaluations for special projects, and strategies initiatives.
  • Presents findings and analyses as needed for various ACO and UMMH committees.
  • Works with Data Scientists and other team members to ensure accurate and timely financial/utilization reporting, leveraging clinical data from EMR systems, claims data, and other sources.
  • Provides the data teams with the specifications for new metrics and reporting needs.
  • Ensures all work is fully documented and project specifications are created following the analytics team standards, oversee documentations from junior analysts.
  • Mentor junior analysts and provides guidance on analytical tools and techniques.

Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education: 

Required: 

  • Master’s degree with a major or concentration in Health Care Administration, Math, Data Science, Economics, Finance, or related field.

Experience/Skills: 

Required: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in healthcare finance, value-based care analytics, managed care analytics, or healthcare analytics. 
  • Excellent analytical and presentation skills. 
  • Familiarity with healthcare data systems, including EMR platforms (e.g. Epic/Clarity) and claims data
  • A working knowledge of computer-aided data analysis, financial forecasting, and value-based program performance analytics (e.g., including TME, utilization, risk management, and shared savings concepts).  
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills 
  • Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred: 

  • Experience with hospital/healthcare delivery systems, financial forecasting, value based contracting and saving/loss projection modeling.
  • Experience working in reimbursement, value-based programs or managed care.
  • Python/SPSS, Tableau or other visualization software experience.
