About Yaga
Yaga is a fast-growing person-to-person marketplace for preloved fashion, connecting buyers and sellers across the Baltics, South Africa; and now expanding into Egypt. Founded in Estonia in 2017, Yaga has grown into a market-leading resale platform with over 2 million users, close to 8 million items sold, and over 12 million monthly visits. Our mission is to make person-to-person secondhand trading as easy and safe as possible — and to make preloved the number one choice for fashion.
Your Mission
You’ll be the financial backbone of Yaga’s day-to-day operations. As our Accounting & Controlling specialist, you’ll own the full accounting cycle across our international entities: from coordinating and auditing the work of external accountants to ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our monthly financial statements through rigorous reconciliation. But this is more than a back-office role. You’ll act as the FP&A business partner to the VP of Finance: delivering the driver analysis, variance explanations, and financial insights needed to inform strategic decisions, including potential re-forecasts. You’ll bring a controlling mindset to everything: building trust in the numbers, tightening processes, and actively leveraging AI and automation to replace repetitive manual work with reliable, scalable systems.
Responsibilities
- Own the full monthly close process across all Yaga entities (EE, SA, and new markets), providing all required inputs to external accountants in each location and ensuring deadlines are met; performing reconciliation tasks to validate completeness and correctness
- Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and internal reporting packs, ensuring data quality and timeliness
- Maintain and evolve the internal reporting tool, ensuring it reliably reflects the financial reality of the business
- Perform detailed budget vs. actuals analysis, identifying and explaining key variances and the drivers behind them to support the VP of Finance's strategic decisions
- Provide the financial inputs and driver analysis needed to assess whether a re-forecast is warranted and what its key assumptions should be
- Lead the closing controlling review, the structured checkpoint that ensures numbers are accurate and trustworthy before they are shared with the team or leadership
- Manage the annual audit process end-to-end: auditor relationship, document preparation, timeline, and follow-through
- Coordinate payroll data flow between the Operations Lead (HR) and external payroll providers across all entities, verifying the accuracy of payroll inputs and employee cost records before processing
- Maintain headcount cost tracking and support the VP of Finance in HC budget planning
- Proactively identify manual or error-prone processes and lead their automation, reducing risk while freeing up time for higher-value analysis
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of hands-on accounting and controlling experience, fully or partially in a multi-entity or international environment
- Strong grounding in accounting standards (IFRS, Estonian or Spanish GAAP)
- Experience acting as a Controlling business partner; translating numbers into driver-level insights that inform decisions
- Hands-on ownership of ERP or accounting software (e.g. Merit, Xero, NetSuite, Odoo, or equivalent); not just as a user, but as the person who keeps the back-end clean and reliable
- A genuine interest in automation: you actively look for ways to remove manual steps from both the input and closing process
- Openness to and starting-level minimum experience with AI tools; you see them as force multipliers, not threats
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Estonian is a plus
- Based in or willing to relocate to Barcelona, Spain, or Estonia
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in a marketplace, fintech, or e-commerce company
- Exposure to audit management or multi-country tax compliance
- Familiarity with FP&A tools, financial modelling, or BI dashboards
- Ability to coordinate and audit the work of external accounting teams across multiple jurisdictions
