Role Overview

The Software Quality Engineer Senior (Performance) is responsible for Performance testing initiatives across enterprise applications, APIs, Microservices and Cloud platforms. This role involves designing and executing performance tests, identifying bottlenecks, analyzing system behavior under load, and collaborating with development, infrastructure, and architecture teams to improve application scalability and reliability. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in Apache JMeter, Grafana, InfluxDB, Groovy/Python scripting, performance analysis, and monitoring solutions.

Work Arrangement

  • This is a 100% Remote position but you must live in EST in CST times zones

Responsibilities

Performance Test Planning & Execution
•    Understand nonfunctional requirements to assess the performance requirements
•    Design, develop, and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests
•    Create and maintain reusable JMeter test scripts and frameworks
•    Analyze application performance against SLAs, KPIs, and business requirements
•    Develop workload models and realistic test scenarios based on production usage patterns
•    Automate performance testing activities within CI/CD pipelines
Monitoring & Analysis
•    Configure and maintain performance monitoring dashboards using Grafana
•    Collect, store, and analyze test metrics using InfluxDB
•    Monitor application, infrastructure, and database performance during test execution
•    Correlate application logs, server metrics, and response times to identify root causes
•    Generate performance reports with actionable recommendations

Scripting & Automation
•    Develop reusable JMeter based test scripts & scenarios
•    Develop automation utilities and performance test frameworks using Groovy / Python
•    Implement dynamic data handling, parameterization, and correlation techniques
•    Automate result collection, trend analysis, and reporting processes
Performance Engineering
•    Identify application bottlenecks across all tiers of applications including Web, API, Database
•    Work with development and infrastructure teams to tune App, Web, DB, network servers
•    Support capacity planning and scalability assessments

DevOps & Continuous Testing
•    Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD & Jenkins
•    Maintain version control for performance scripts and test assets
 

 Education and Experience

  • BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • At least seven (7)+ years of experience in Performance Testing and Performance Engineering
  • At least five (5)+ years of hands-on experience with JMeter
  • Experience building Grafana dashboards and managing InfluxDB environments
  • Strong understanding of web protocols, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
  • Experience analyzing JVM, database, and infrastructure performance metrics
  • Prior experience as Automation Senior in Healthcare Industry strongly preferred
  • Performance Testing Tools: Apache JMeter (Expert), BlazeMeter (preferred), LoadRunner (nice to have)
  • Monitoring & Observability: Grafana, InfluxDB, Prometheus, Splunk (preferred)
  • Scripting & Programming:  JMeter, Groovy, Java, Python, Bash/Shell scripting, PowerShell
