The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, systems, and business domains. You’ll help shape architecture, technical strategy, and execution for complex initiatives spanning Product, Platform, Infrastructure, and customer-facing systems.

This is a highly influential individual contributor role for a deeply technical leader who operates with a high degree of autonomy and accountability. You’ll lead strategically important work from discovery through production, mentor Staff and senior engineers, and help teams make strong technical decisions across scalability, reliability, security, cost, developer productivity, and long-term maintainability.

What You'll Do

Your day-today

• You’ll provide senior technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, systems, and business domains.
• You’ll drive architecture, design, and implementation of scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable software systems.
• You’ll lead complex cross-functional technical initiatives from discovery and design through delivery and production operation.
• You’ll partner with Product, Engineering, Data, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Customer Experience, and business stakeholders to connect technical decisions with business outcomes.
• You’ll design and guide implementation of backend services, APIs, integrations, platform capabilities, and distributed systems.
• You’ll evaluate existing systems and identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, performance, observability, maintainability, cost efficiency, and developer productivity.
• You’ll influence technical strategy, roadmap planning, architecture standards, and prioritization across teams.
• You’ll establish and promote strong engineering practices across code quality, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, documentation, security, and operational excellence.
• You’ll mentor Staff Engineers, senior engineers, and technical leads, helping raise the bar for architecture, execution, ownership, and technical judgment.
• You’ll help teams make thoughtful trade-offs across speed, quality, scalability, reliability, security, cost, and long-term maintainability.
• You’ll lead or support modernization efforts across legacy and modern systems, platforms, and integrations.
• You’ll contribute to systems supporting customer communications, telephony, contact center workflows, servicing platforms, and enterprise integrations where needed.
• You’ll participate in production support, incident reviews, root-cause analysis, and long-term reliability improvements for critical systems.
• You’ll identify practical ways to use AI-assisted engineering tools and automation to improve development workflows, operational efficiency, knowledge sharing, and team effectiveness.

What You Bring

Skills & experience 

Required 

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Proven experience providing technical leadership across multiple teams or complex technical domains.
• Strong experience with backend services, APIs, integrations, data flows, and cloud-based architectures.
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Kotlin, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of system design, software architecture, scalability, reliability, observability, security, and operational excellence.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, logging, alerting, and production operations.
• Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction and drive alignment without relying on direct authority.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and helping teams improve technical execution.
• Strong ownership mindset with experience driving ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives to completion.

Nice to Have

• Experience with telephony, contact center platforms, IVR, call routing, voice systems, customer communications, or customer engagement technologies.
• Experience with platforms such as Twilio, Amazon Connect, Genesys, Five9, NICE, Cisco, Avaya, or similar technologies.
• Experience integrating third-party SaaS platforms, vendor APIs, or enterprise systems.
• Experience in fintech, financial services, lending, risk, servicing, collections, customer support, or another regulated environment.
• Experience modernizing legacy systems and improving the reliability of business-critical platforms.
• Experience evaluating emerging technologies and applying them pragmatically to engineering or business problems.
• Experience using AI-enabled engineering tools, copilots, automation platforms, or intelligent productivity solutions to improve software development, documentation, testing, knowledge discovery, or operational support.
• Strong judgment around where AI-assisted solutions add value, where they do not, and how to apply them responsibly in an enterprise environment.
