About the Role
As a Senior Scrum Master, you will support our Engineering Scrum Teams and help the company build high-impact software and features that deliver value to our customers. You will serve as an agent of continuous improvement and change by keeping Scrum teams focused, guiding them through delivery challenges, helping remove blockers, and ensuring they have what they need to succeed. You will also champion the effective use of AI-powered tools, organizational data, and automation to improve Agile delivery, team productivity, and engineering processes.
The Senior Scrum Master helps align teams, identify delivery risks, suggest process improvements, and escalate blockers needing leadership intervention. While influencing Agile practices and cross-team coordination, ultimate decisions on product priorities, personnel, releases, and incidents rest with designated leaders.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Facilitate effective communication among team members.
- Actively monitor the team's progress on commitments, taking proactive measures to ensure they are on track, and keeping all parties updated on progress and changes.
- Champion Agile values, principles, and practices within the organization.
- Champion change management across Scrum teams and the broader LegalMatch organization.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance Agile practices to improve software delivery effectiveness.
- Steward the team’s Definition of Ready, Definition of Done, working agreements, and estimation practices, while ensuring cross-team dependencies are identified and considered during planning and delivery.
- Facilitate effective Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions.
- Support Product Owners in refining, organizing, and optimizing product backlogs, including helping ensure that team goals and OKRs are aligned with business stakeholder priorities.
- Remove roadblocks that can hinder team progress.
- Help the Scrum team, Release and Incident Management, and the broader engineering team coordinate release planning and deployment activities. Onboard, train, and mentor Scrum team members.
- Monitor the team's progress and health, applying strategies for ongoing improvement.
- Coach team members to increase team effectiveness and organizational impact.
- Guide the team toward driving results at an organizational level.
- Facilitate self-organization within teams, empowering team members to take ownership and drive initiatives.
- Work closely with HR and Practice Leads to manage the performance evaluation of probationary team members.
- Develop coaching plans for team members to support continuous learning and professional development.
- Promote the effective use of AI-powered tools to improve team productivity, Agile delivery, documentation, planning, and knowledge sharing.
- Identify opportunities to streamline Scrum processes through automation and AI-assisted workflows while maintaining quality and governance.
- Leverage AI tools to support task performance, team collaboration, delivery tracking, documentation, and continuous improvement, while promoting practical and responsible AI adoption across the Scrum team and broader organization.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar Agile leadership role.
- Demonstrates servant leadership by setting a positive example, acting proactively, and helping teams solve problems effectively.
- Strong working knowledge of Agile methodologies, techniques, and frameworks, such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Agile Scrum Master Certification and/or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certification is preferred but not required.
- Good understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Experience with AI tools (such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Claude, Gemini) to enhance Agile delivery, collaboration, documentation, planning, development workflows, or automation.
- Ability to evaluate and adopt emerging AI tools that enhance team productivity while ensuring responsible and effective use.
- Encourage the practical and responsible use of AI tools by helping teams apply them in ways that improve productivity, protect quality, and support sound engineering and governance practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Jira and Confluence, including JQL, automation rules, dashboards, reporting, and delivery metrics such as velocity, cycle time, and throughput.
