AI Summary

The analyst is responsible for validating reports, dashboards, and datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency across healthcare systems. They will reconcile figures, investigate data discrepancies, and collaborate with technical teams to resolve reporting issues.

About The Role

The Senior Reporting Quality Assurance & Data Validation Analyst is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of reports across healthcare practice management systems, electronic health records (EHRs), billing platforms, and internal reporting solutions.

This role works closely with the Reporting & Business Intelligence team, operations, and technical teams to validate reporting outputs, reconcile data across systems, investigate discrepancies, and strengthen reporting quality controls. Success requires strong SQL and Excel skills, sound analytical judgment, and the ability to trace reporting issues to their source and help drive them to resolution.

What You'll Do

  • Independently validate reports, dashboards, and datasets before they are shared with clients, leadership, or operational stakeholders.
  • Reconcile reported figures against source systems, including EHRs, practice management platforms, billing applications, internal databases, and automated extracts.
  • Perform record-level and aggregate-level checks to identify missing, duplicate, inaccurate, or inconsistent data.
  • Verify calculations, business rules, filters, date ranges, and metric definitions across financial, operational, productivity, and revenue cycle reports.
  • Investigate differences involving posting dates, transaction dates, adjustments, voids, refunds, and reporting cutoffs, distinguishing legitimate reporting differences from actual errors.
  • Trace discrepancies through data extraction, transformation, and reporting processes, working with analysts, developers, and data engineers to identify root causes and resolve issues.
  • Conduct regression testing when reporting logic, data pipelines, or source systems change.
  • Develop repeatable testing procedures, reconciliation templates, and validation checklists for recurring reports.
  • Create exception reports and identify opportunities to automate repetitive validation activities.
  • Document testing results, supporting evidence, business impact, recommended corrections, and resolutions to maintain clear records and support audit readiness.
  • Partner with operational stakeholders to clarify reporting requirements and expected results, and promptly escalate material inaccuracies.
  • Track recurring reporting defects and recommend improvements that strengthen data quality and reporting reliability.
  • Follow company policies for patient confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and the secure handling of sensitive healthcare information.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting quality assurance, data validation, reconciliation, or a related analytical role.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, conditional formulas, and comparisons of large datasets.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, comparing, aggregating, reconciling, and validating data.
  • Demonstrated experience investigating discrepancies across reports, databases, or business systems and identifying their underlying causes.
  • Ability to interpret complex business rules and translate them into practical validation scenarios.
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with consistent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to independently investigate issues, follow through on findings, and manage multiple reporting validation assignments.
  • Strong written communication and documentation skills, including the ability to explain findings and business impact clearly.
  • Reliable computer access and a stable, high-speed internet connection suitable for remote work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM), medical billing, or healthcare reporting, with an understanding of accounts receivable, charges, payments, adjustments, denials, collections, and financial reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with EHR or practice management platforms such as ModMed, Tebra, Nextech, DrChrono, AdvancedMD, athenahealth, or OpenPM.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence platforms.
  • Familiarity with Python, Power Query, automated data validation tools, or data quality monitoring and exception reporting.
  • Experience validating ETL/ELT pipelines, APIs, or database integrations.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA requirements and handling sensitive healthcare information.
