Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedPosition Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 Salary/yearTravel Percentage: NegligibleJob Shift: DayCompany Overview HighRes is a Beverly, Massachusetts–based life sciences lab automation company that partners with biotech, pharma, and research organizations to implement intelligent laboratory workflows, combining hardware, software, and services to make scientific work more efficient and reproducible. Its platform is focused on automating and orchestrating lab operations—from liquid handling and robotic systems to workflow software such as Cellario OS—supporting use cases like drug discovery, genomics, and other high-throughput research.   Position Summary We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to own a connected part of the CellarioOS experience: the software that runs a lab day to day, and the device interfaces that run on our instruments themselves. You'll bring both under one shared design system, delivering interfaces that feel intuitive and easy to adopt for scientists doing complex, high-stakes work. On the software side, that means the operational layer of CellarioOS — the tools that help people see, schedule, manage, and understand what's happening across a lab, including the Lab Designer tool and system visualization work. On the hardware side, it means the interfaces built directly into our devices. This is a cross-functional role on a cross-functional design team. You'll be expected to drive your own research and design end to end, alongside close daily collaboration with Engineering and Product Management.   Responsibilities Design across both CellarioOS software and device interfaces, unifying them under not just a shared design system, but a single visual design language that connects every touchpoint of the experience, from physical to digital. Take complex, abstract technical requirements — from engineering, hardware constraints, or lab science itself — and distill them into clear user problems and needs the team can design against. Own the experience of the Lab Designer tool and system visualization work, helping users understand and configure their lab at a glance. Partner daily with the research and visual design members of your pod, and with Engineering and Product Management, from early concepting through shipped release. Prototype rapidly with AI-enabled tools, moving from sketch to interactive, testable fidelity in days, not weeks. • Design and evaluate generative-interface patterns — UI that adapts, assembles, or responds dynamically to AI-driven input — as CellarioOS's agentic capabilities grow. Contribute to co-design workshops, design reviews, and usability tests, and translate research findings into prioritized design decisions. Required Qualifications 6+ years of experience in product or UX design for complex SaaS, enterprise, or hardware-adjacent platforms. Experience designing across both software and physical/hardware interfaces, or strong appetite to work across both. Comfort working within and evolving a shared design system across multiple surfaces.• An AI-forward toolset: fluency prototyping with AI-assisted design and code tools, and hands-on experience designing generative or AI-adaptive interfaces. Strong facilitation and storytelling skills — comfortable presenting to scientists, engineers, and executives alike. Ability to translate complex, multi-step user journeys into interfaces that feel simple. A portfolio showing shipped product work from a high-velocity team. Ability to maintain consistent daily overlap with US Eastern Time hours, regardless of your location. We prefer candidates based in the EU, UK, Canada, or US. Ability to travel as needed (negligible travel required)   Preferred Qualifications Prior experience designing for automation, scheduling, or CAD tooling software. Exposure to accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design. Experience on scientific, laboratory, or factory-scale automation products. Familiarity with agentic AI concepts — tool-calling, agent orchestration, human-in-the-loop workflows — as they apply to interface design.   Notes Applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
