Senior Power Systems Modeling Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Power Systems Modeling Engineer to join a specialized international power systems engineering team supporting projects across the U.S. power market.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, reviewing, and validating complex power system models and performing advanced electrical system studies related to transmission planning, generation interconnection, load interconnection, renewable generation, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), conventional generation, transmission infrastructure, and large-load developments.

The role will involve performing power flow, contingency, short-circuit, voltage stability, transient stability, dynamic modeling, and other power system analyses. The engineer will evaluate transmission constraints, thermal violations, voltage issues, system reliability, and the potential grid impacts associated with new generation and large-load projects.

The Senior Power Systems Modeling Engineer will also develop and validate generator, renewable generation, and inverter-based resource models, support dynamic and transient stability studies, and assist with EMT studies when required.

The position requires the ability to independently manage complex technical studies, review technical data and study assumptions, interpret simulation results, identify potential modeling or system issues, and prepare clear technical reports and recommendations.

The engineer will collaborate with U.S. utilities, developers, consultants, ISOs/RTOs, transmission organizations, and internal engineering teams. The role may also include reviewing technical work produced by other engineers and providing guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineering staff.

This is a remote, full-time position based in Mexico, supporting sophisticated U.S. power system and grid infrastructure projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on Power Systems.
  
• Strong professional experience in power system modeling and analysis.
  
• Experience with transmission planning and/or generation or load interconnection studies.
  
• Strong understanding of power system fundamentals and electrical grid behavior.
  
• Demonstrated experience performing:
  • Power Flow Analysis
    
  • Contingency Analysis
    
  • Short-Circuit Studies
    
  • Transient Stability Analysis
    
  • Dynamic Modeling
    
  • Voltage Stability Analysis
    
• Experience with renewable generation and/or BESS.
  
• Knowledge of inverter-based resources (IBRs) is highly desirable.
  
• Ability to independently execute complex technical studies.
  
• Ability to review, troubleshoot, and validate power system models.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  
• Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy.
  
• Ability to manage multiple technical assignments and deadlines.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Professional English proficiency.
  
• Experience with one or more of the following software platforms:

Preferred:

• Previous experience supporting the U.S. power market.
  
• Experience working with utilities, developers, ISOs/RTOs, transmission organizations, or engineering consultants.
  
• Experience with ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, or CAISO.
  
• Experience with renewable energy integration, BESS, large-load or data center interconnection, IBRs, dynamic model validation, EMT studies, and grid reliability.
