Senior Design Lead

The person we're looking for

We're seeking a Senior Design Lead with a proven ability to bring clarity to complex problems. You'll guide multiple projects and teams, coach designers to grow their craft, and be a trusted voice for design with senior stakeholders. You'll also manage direct reports and client relationships.

Job Overview

• Lead multiple complex design projects or workstreams, defining approaches, deliverables, and timelines while guiding teams through ambiguity.
• Know when to step in, when to delegate, and how to keep the team aligned and working collaboratively.
• Maintain consistent design judgement and critical rigour.
• Coach direct reports, leads and senior designers to sharpen their critique and articulate a clear point of view.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen design thinking across your team's projects, helping designers slow down, question assumptions, and avoid shortcuts that weaken the work.
• Own client relationships, managing expectations, addressing concerns, and escalating strategic decisions to directors as needed.
• Establish and articulate the design strategy to the team to ensure work is aligned with business goals, and work with senior clients to align on future-state vision.
• Advocate for and defend design decisions at a senior stakeholder level, translating design rationale into language that resonates with executive audiences.

Requirements

• Proven 8 years full-time industry experience as a product designer
• 4+ years of people management experience
• Portfolio we can access
• Must have a minimum 3-hour overlap with Toronto EST timezone

Benefits
