Senior Business Systems Developer

OUR MISSION

Family Reach is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to removing the financial barriers standing between cancer patients and their treatment — such as loss of income, increased out-of-pocket expenses, and socioeconomic factors. When faced with these financial barriers, families have to make impossible decisions like choosing between paying for treatment or basic essentials like housing, food, and transportation. No family should have to choose between their health and their home — and we won’t stop until that’s the reality.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Business Systems Developer will lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of Family Reach's Salesforce platform and connected technology systems, supporting the organization's ability to deliver programs, engage donors, and operate efficiently.

This role will serve as a senior technical resource across Salesforce development, website functionality, system integrations, and automation. Working closely with the Senior Salesforce Solutions Manager, Director of Salesforce Operations, and cross-functional teams, this individual will translate organizational needs into scalable, secure, and sustainable technical solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong Salesforce development expertise, including Apex, Lightning Web Components, and Experience Cloud, alongside experience with Python, APIs, and web technologies. This position requires someone who can work independently, solve complex technical challenges, and help strengthen Family Reach's technology infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Systems Development & Technical Solutions

• Design, develop, and maintain custom Salesforce solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components, SOQL, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
• Build and maintain Apex classes, triggers, batch processes, queueable jobs, and test classes following development standards.
• Develop Python scripts and other technical solutions to support data management, automation, and operational efficiencies.
• Build and maintain custom integrations between Salesforce and external platforms using REST and SOAP APIs, Apex callouts, Platform Events, and Named Credentials.
• Lead code reviews, establish development best practices, and ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
• Evaluate technical requirements, recommend solutions, and identify opportunities to streamline existing processes.

Website, Experience Cloud & Integrations

• Develop and maintain Salesforce Experience Cloud sites, including patient- and family-facing applications.
• Support the development and maintenance of Family Reach's website, including WordPress functionality and integrations with Salesforce.
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve website functionality, user experience, accessibility, and performance.
• Manage external user access, sharing permissions, and security across Salesforce-connected applications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues in partnership with Salesforce Operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve connectivity and data consistency across organizational systems.

Salesforce Administration & Operational Support

• Develop and maintain complex Salesforce Flows and determine when custom development is more appropriate than declarative solutions.
• Support the migration of legacy Workflow Rules and Process Builder automation to Flow.
• Provide advanced Salesforce administration support, including permissions, security, sharing settings, and system configuration.
• Manage deployments, testing, and releases across sandbox and production environments.
• Serve as an escalation resource for complex technical support requests and system issues.
• Support ongoing system optimization, data integrity, and operational improvements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Solution Design

• Partner with the Senior Salesforce Solutions Manager and Director of Salesforce Operations to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Collaborate with Programs, Development, Data, Operations, and other departments to identify technology needs and opportunities for improvement.
• Support technical initiatives that extend beyond Salesforce, including website development, automation, and data integrations.
• Evaluate project feasibility, estimate development effort, and communicate technical risks and tradeoffs.
• Maintain documentation of technical solutions, system architecture, and development processes in Confluence.
• Contribute to technology planning and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

Technical Leadership & Knowledge Sharing

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other developers and team members.
• Establish and promote development standards, code quality, and documentation best practices.
• Support training and knowledge sharing to strengthen internal technical capabilities.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Salesforce experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on development using Apex, SOQL, and Lightning Web Components.
• Experience developing Python scripts or similar solutions for data processing, automation, and integrations.
• 2+ years of experience building and maintaining Salesforce Experience Cloud sites.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing custom API integrations between Salesforce and external platforms.
• Strong understanding of Salesforce architecture, security, administration, and deployment processes.
• Experience with source control and deployment tools such as Git, Salesforce CLI, or DevOps Center.
• Experience translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Required Certifications

• Salesforce Administrator
• Salesforce Platform App Builder
• Salesforce Platform Developer I

Preferred Qualifications

• WordPress development experience, including PHP and Gravity Forms.
• Experience with Salesforce Sales Cloud and Nonprofit Success Pack (NPSP).
• Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud.
• Salesforce Platform Developer II, Experience Cloud Consultant, or Nonprofit Cloud Consultant certification.
• Experience supporting nonprofit organizations or mission-driven technology initiatives.
• Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and web accessibility standards.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $65,000–$75,000. Family Reach offers an attractive benefits package, including, but not limited to, an annual performance bonus, medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, and generous vacation and leave policies.
