Senior Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer

Ciklum is looking for a Senior Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer to join our team full-time in India.

About the role:

As a Senior Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow to embed directly with client teams, map manual business workflows, and design, build, and deploy custom AI-agent-powered solutions. In this forward-deployed role, you will own the entire lifecycle of an automation project—from initial discovery and requirement gathering through to production deployment and continuous iteration—working directly with non-technical stakeholders with minimal direction.

Responsibilities:

• Client Discovery & Process Mapping: Embed with client teams to shadow, analyze, and decompose complex manual business workflows into modular, scalable AI-agent pipelines
• End-to-End Ownership: Lead the complete lifecycle of AI solutions—discovery, system architecture, development, deployment, evaluation, and iteration.
• Agent & Workflow Engineering: Architect, build, and optimize multi-agent networks, tool integrations, and reusable agent skills
• Enterprise Integration: Connect AI workflows to client enterprise infrastructure, including unstructured document processors, internal databases, and third-party tools (SharePoint, Email, Jira, SAP)
• Stakeholder Management: Translate complex technical concepts into actionable solutions for non-technical stakeholders, driving adoption and gathering actionable feedback

Requirements:

• Software Engineering Background: Proven track record in core software development, Python backend engineering, and system design
• Production AI Experience: At least one production-grade project involving LLM agents, skill building, or RAG pipelines
• Autonomy & Delivery: Strong history of taking full ownership of features or products from inception to release with minimal supervision
• Client-Facing Communication: Prior experience working directly with business users or non-technical leadership to gather requirements and present technical solutions (Consulting or Forward Deployed background is a strong plus)

AI & Agentic Systems:

• LLM API Integration: Deep knowledge of tool use/function calling, streaming responses, and context window management
• Agent Frameworks: Hands-on experience with Strands as a primary framework, alongside familiarity with LangGraph, CrewAI, or AutoGen
• Model Context Protocol (MCP): Ability to build, expose, and consume MCP servers to standardize tool integration across agents
• Multi-Agent Systems (A2A): Multi-agent coordination, task delegation, and result aggregation across distributed agent networks
• Skill Building: Design, test, and deploy reusable agent skills usable across varied workflows
• RAG Pipelines: Hands-on experience with vector databases, custom chunking strategies, embeddings, and retrieval optimization
• Prompt Engineering & Evaluation: Expertise in system prompt design, Chain-of-Thought reasoning, and setting up evaluation benchmarks
• Guardrails & Observability: Implementation of human-in-the-loop checkpoints, hallucination mitigation strategies, and agent tracking/observability tools

Back End Engineering:

• Python Expertise: Modern Python (3.10+) utilizing async/await paradigms and type hinting
• Web Frameworks: Experience building asynchronous REST APIs using FastAPI (or equivalent)
• Database & Auth: Proficiency in SQL (queries, filters, joins), exposure to vector storage (pgvector, Pinecone, OpenSearch), and familiarity with JWT/OAuth2 authentication standards
• Workflow Automation: Experience ingesting and processing unstructured data sources (PDFs, Excel spreadsheets, emails)

Infrastructure & Operations

• AWS & Agent Core: Hosting and operating agent workloads on AWS AgentCore, with a clear understanding of agent lifecycle management, scaling, and invocation
• AWS Core Services: Practical knowledge of EC2/ECS, Lambda, RDS, and S3 to support deployment and data storage
• DevOps: Experience with Docker containerization and setting up CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions
