About the Role

At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring an experienced Accounting Manager to join a rapidly growing U.S.-based accounting and advisory firm founded by professionals with backgrounds in private equity and investment banking.

This is a high-ownership, client-facing accounting role for someone who can independently manage financial operations across multiple U.S.-based clients.

You’ll own key functions including:

• Month-end close
• U.S. GAAP financial reporting
• AP/AR and reconciliations
• Payroll
• U.S. sales tax compliance
• Budgeting and forecasting support
• Process improvement
• Client financial communication

This is not a basic bookkeeping role. You’ll work directly with business owners, helping them understand their financial performance while ensuring their accounting operations remain accurate, compliant, and organized.

If you have strong U.S. accounting experience, advanced QuickBooks skills, and experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously, this role is a strong fit.

What You’ll Own

Multi-Client Accounting & Month-End Close

• Own month-end close processes across multiple U.S.-based client accounts
• Manage:
• Accounts payable (AP)
• Accounts receivable (AR)
• Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• General ledger activities
• Prepare and review financial statements and supporting workpapers
• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Ensure client books remain clean, organized, and reporting-ready
• Manage multiple accounting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy

Payroll & Compliance

• Process payroll accurately and on schedule
• Manage employee setup and onboarding within payroll systems
• Work with platforms such as:
• Gusto
• ADP
• Paylocity
• Prepare and file U.S. state sales tax returns
• Maintain supporting documentation for payroll and compliance requirements
• Ensure deadlines and regulatory requirements are consistently met

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare accurate financial reporting packages for clients
• Analyze financial performance and identify:
• Trends
• Risks
• Variances
• Opportunities
• Build custom reports and dashboards based on client needs
• Translate financial data into practical business insights
• Present financial information clearly to business owners and non-financial stakeholders

Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Support

• Support clients with:
• Budgeting
• Forecasting
• Financial planning
• Analyze actual performance against expectations
• Help business owners understand the financial impact of operational decisions
• Provide proactive financial insights rather than simply reporting historical numbers

Accounting Systems & Process Improvement

• Review existing accounting workflows and procedures
• Identify opportunities to improve:
• Efficiency
• Automation
• Accuracy
• Internal controls
• Document accounting processes and SOPs
• Help standardize workflows across multiple client engagements
• Improve scalability as the client portfolio grows

Client Management & Communication

• Serve as a trusted accounting partner to business owners
• Manage financial communication across multiple client relationships
• Explain accounting concepts in clear, business-friendly language
• Respond promptly and professionally to client questions
• Proactively identify issues before they become larger problems
• Build client trust through accuracy, responsiveness, and strong financial ownership

Requirements – Must Have

Accounting Experience

• 5–10 years of accounting and finance experience
• Strong experience supporting multiple U.S.-based clients simultaneously
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP
• Full-cycle accounting experience
• Proven experience with:
• Month-end close
• Financial reporting
• AP/AR
• Reconciliations
• General ledger accounting
• Payroll
• U.S. sales tax compliance

Accounting Systems

Advanced experience with:

• QuickBooks Online
• QuickBooks Desktop and/or Enterprise

Experience with AP and expense platforms such as:

• Bill.com
• Ramp
• Similar AP automation systems

Experience with payroll platforms such as:

• Gusto
• ADP
• Paylocity

Excel & Financial Analysis

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:

• Pivot Tables
• XLOOKUP
• INDEX/MATCH
• Financial reporting
• Data analysis

Communication & Ownership

• Excellent spoken and written English
• Strong client-facing communication skills
• Ability to confidently explain financial information to business owners
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and competing priorities
• Self-starter with strong ownership and accountability

Strong preference for candidates with experience supporting blue-collar and field-service businesses, including:

Experience within:

• Outsourced accounting firms
• Client Accounting Services (CAS)
• Fractional CFO firms
• CPA firms serving multiple clients

Demonstrated employment stability, including multi-year tenure with previous employers, is also preferred.
