ABOUT US
Rep Data consists of a group of experienced industry veterans revolutionizing the survey data and sampling process. Our clients include top management consultancies, market research agencies, and brands. Our mission is to make our clients’ research process easier and to be a reliable, repeatable data collection partner. For life! If you are passionate about delighting customers and simplifying the inherent complexities of data collection, we want to hear from you!
Rep Data is looking for a Senior Accountant to take ownership of our multi-state sales tax function, support monthly close, and serve as the primary backup to our Treasury lead. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants real ownership of a specific function while staying broadly engaged across close and treasury functions. You'll report directly to the CFO as the role gets established, with reporting expected to shift to the Controller once the function is up and running. You'll gain exposure to a PE-backed, multi-entity company operating across the US, UK, Austria, and South Africa.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
● Lead Rep Data's sales tax initiative: nexus analysis, registration, filing cadence, and ongoing compliance across all states where we have obligations
● Manage the relationship with our outsourced sales tax filing provider and own the accuracy of filings before submission
● Research and document taxability positions as we launch new products or expand into new states
● Support monthly close: journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis for assigned areas
● Act as second-in-command for Treasury: bank reconciliations, cash positioning, and daily liquidity monitoring, with full ownership during the Treasury lead's absence
● Assist with quarterly and annual audit requests related to sales tax and treasury
● Work with our outside accountants on corporate and state income tax filings, providing schedules and supporting detail as needed
● Support VAT compliance and filings for applicable entities
● Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations across entities
● Support transfer pricing documentation and calculations in coordination with outside advisors
● Identify and help implement process improvements and automation opportunities across sales tax and cash workflows
WHAT YOU BRING
● 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on multi-state sales tax work
● Solid month-end close experience: reconciliations, journal entries, flux analysis
● Treasury or cash management exposure (bank recs, cash positioning) is a strong plus
● Exposure to corporate or state income tax (working alongside outside accountants or a tax firm) is a plus
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus
● Comfortable working independently in a lean, fast-moving finance team
● Strong Excel skills
● Working knowledge of Sage (ERP) and Avalara (sales tax) required
● Clear, organized communicator who can explain tax positions to non-tax people
WHAT WE OFFER
● Competitive base salary, plus opportunity for bonus program based on company and individual performance
● Employer subsidized medical, dental, and vision coverage
● Paid time off and paid holidays
● 401K plan and matching program
● Employee Assistance Program
● Work from home with reimbursements for work-related expenses
● Company-provided computer
● Paid volunteer program
● An opportunity to work with some of the best and brightest in the market research industry and drive large-scale innovation in "restech"
