Senior Accountant

About you and the role:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the month-end close process, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records and compliance with U.S. GAAP and SOX requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong accounting fundamentals, solid analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to independently manage multiple accounting responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. This role will also support process improvements, accounting systems initiatives, and automation efforts as the company continues to grow and scale.

What you’ll be doing:

• Own assigned general ledger accounts and month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules, in accordance with U.S. GAAP, SOX requirements, and the close calendar.

• Own freight and COGS accounting, including accruals, discrepancy investigation, and ensuring costs are recorded in the appropriate period.

• Manage fixed asset and prepaid accounting, including reviewing transactions for appropriate treatment, maintaining schedules, and recording depreciation and amortization.

• Perform variance analysis for assigned areas, investigate unusual activity, and support recurring cost and financial reporting.

• Review and approve vendor bills for accurate coding, classification, supporting documentation, and appropriate accounting treatment.

• Manage Corporate Spend accounting in Ramp, including transaction coding, expense classification, and compliance review.

• Support accounting systems implementations, integrations, testing, and other finance technology initiatives.

• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities, leveraging technology and AI to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

• Partner cross-functionally to research and resolve accounting issues and support business needs.

• Maintain accounting process and internal control documentation and support internal and external audit requests.

• Support additional accounting projects and initiatives as the company continues to grow and scale.

You have many of the following:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

2. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.

3. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience working in a SOX-compliant or controls-focused environment.

4. Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and experience analyzing large transactional datasets.

5. Experience with accounting systems and process improvements, including exposure to system implementations, integrations, automation, or AI-enabled workflows.

6. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, remote environment.

7. Experience with ERP and finance platforms such as NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Tipalti, Ramp, or similar systems is preferred; CPA, public accounting/audit, and shipping, logistics, or ecommerce experience are also considered a plus.
